We are the Quarterdeck Society a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Pearl Harbor and the role of the Battleship during World War II.
We are trying to raise $25,000 to find a permanent home for the 38 foot scle model of the Battleship USS Nevada.
Curently it is housed at Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station but we need to find a home where we can display it. Since it rests on a trailer we need funds to tow it our to various civic and patriotic events. All of the money raised will got toward towing expenses, maintenace and adding new pieces to this magnificent model.
The model was in the movie Tora Tora Tora and then claimed by a Pearl Harbor surivor and Navy officer Lt. Cmdr Walt Riter. After his passing, our little band of civilian and Navy veterans took over from his widow.
We especially need financial help becasue most of us are getting up in years. One of our members just turned 90. We want to go on showing our ship off to kids who have never seen anything like it.
