We would do anything for each other, and since she moved away I haven't been able to do my part and have slowly been watching her slip into an illness that is deadly and extemely costly... Here is Kat's story:
"October of 2013 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. No family history of diabetes so that was a huge shock. I was allergic to most pill medications so I am insulin depended. Without my insulin, I will die. September of 2014 was the first time I went into DKA. With a blood sugar of 1000 I was admitted to the icu where I stayed for a week and I almost lost my life. March of 2015 I stared passing out more and more frequently until it was everyday. One of these time I started to seize and was immediately taken to the hospital where I was diagnoses with a rare heart condition known as Long QT Syndrome. While in the ICU I went into Vfib 3 times and the staff was able to bring me back each time. I then went into emergency surgery to have an ICD Pacemaker placed to fix the dangerous arrthmias once they start. I was also put on a Beta Blocker.
May 2015 I was admitted to the ICU again for DKA and complications with my heart.
Type 1 diabetic
Insulin depended
5-10 shots a day
Two kinds of insulin. Each vile cost $250 and I go through 1 vile every week and a half.
Long QT Syndrome
Causes dangerous heart arrthymias that send me into a fib or v fib. It comes out if I am scared, stressed, worried, do anything with adernaline.
There is a whole lot of medicine I can't take now b/c it can give me an arrthymias such as allergy meds, cold meds, anti nausea, almost all anti depressants, along with foods I can't eat.
I've also lost 40 lbs in 3 months from all this. It's been hard to gain back bc the meds I am on make me sick to my stomach."
Another huge reason for this money is for Kat to get a service dog that is trained for people who are prone to seizures and have diabetes- these dogs can tell you 20-40 mins of a blood sugar high or low, call 911, bring you sugar if you can't move due to a low and sense a sezuire before it happens...this could make her life SO much easier!!
I love her and I want her to live, and anyone who is Kat's friend and has read or heard this story knows that Rambo needs our help now more than ever, and asking for help is such a hard thing to do.
