I, Veronique Männikkö, also known by my maiden name Meeuwsen, kindly ask for your help.
Everyone who knows me, knows that I have been constantly fighting with my health for the last 20 years.
2,5 years ago, I was finally enjoying a stable condition and life smiled at me, so I got married and emigrated to Finland. Unfortunately, my health challenges are returning big-time now. This has mostly been due to the Finnish climate,
which makes staying here impossible for me.
In addition, I’ve been struggling with the social services in Finland. I should have been receiving disability benefits (like I was in the Netherlands) since my arrival in Helsinki last June, 2017, but until this very day I’ve received nothing, mainly due to bureaucracy. I’ve basically been without any source of income since June 2017 and now all my savings are gone, which included donations from my mother and my husbands parents, who’s helped us out whenever possible.
If I keep living in Finland my life expectancy is very short (various doctors have confirmed this) so I urgently need to relocate back to the Netherlands, to receive the care and support that I need now and in the future.
This upcoming relocation back to my home country has also required my husband and I to make the sad decision to file for divorce
I’m now in a desperate financial situation, and if there was another way to solve this, I would have done so already, but the reality is that there isn’t, so I ask for your help and financial aid.
I do not ask for large donations, although they’re also welcome of course, but if everyone is willing to chip in even a small amount, for example the equivalent of a cup of coffee or a beer, then we’ll come a long way if all my (Fb) friends and family participate.

My target is €6,500, which includes the costs to emigrate back to the Netherlands, initial medical care, renting an apartment, purchasing furniture and household appliances etc. I’m basically rebuilding my life from scratch.
