The Road to the Olympics

It's hard to fund a dream.  From her first trip to the State high school tournament in her Freshman year in high school to her signing of a LOI with Michigan State, to her current post-graduate status, my granddaughter, Tori Franklin's, dream has been to make the Olympic Team in her main event, the Triple Jump.

In order to remain competitive, post collegiate, she must finance and travel to various track and field meets.  These competitions allow her to record the marks that are necessary to be eligible to enter the US Championships (she had already recorded an eligible mark for the US Indoor Championships next month) and the US Olympic Trials (she has recorded a mark quite close to being eligible).

Any funds raised through this site will be used to finance entry fees, air travel, lodging and meals while she continues to train and travels to enter competitive meets.

Please help us fund a dream.  Then, watch as we try to take home the Gold!  ON TO RIO!

A message from Tori Franklin:

I would truly like to thank you for coming along with me on this journey. I wouldn't have been able to compete at the trials without your generous donations and continued support. I am still in awe at how lovely and amazing you all have been.

Id like to thank Tim Pinnick for being extremely dedicated and raising so much from people all over the country. I am so blessed to have you by my side. Thank you.

Also to my mother Tonya Kee Franklin and grandmother Demerette Hemingway Kee for believing in me, loving me, and helping to make my transition from a collegiate athlete to a professional as smooth as possible. Thank you.

And to Vanitta Kinard I know im not the easiest to work with, but thank you for sticking it out with me through these past 4 years. Youve helped me to have a wonderfully successful college career and a fantasic start to my professional one. Thank you.

Just a quick update for those who are asking. Tori Franklin did make the finals. She will be jumping on Thursday July 7th at 6:30 Pacific time. So here's the next step. In order to make the Olympics team, she must come in at least 3rd and jump a qualifying jump of a minimum of 14.15 meters. Actually she has made that jump in practice, now it's time for her to bring it in actual competition. Stay with us, wish us luck and remember that it will be televised on Thursday.

A message from Tori Franklin:

Hiya Family and Friends,
There are only 8 days until the Olympic Trials and 11 until the day I compete. I'm feeling really good these last couple of days and with continued treatment I know that I'll feel even better on competition day!! Lately, I've been focused on visualizing big jumps, peace of mind, and daring greatly. To dare greatly is to go forward boldly with no fear and accepting discomfort. I'm excited about the days to come and I'm ready to just leave it all on the track. As always thank you for your continued support and prayers.
With Love,
Tori
