Vince Parra's Memorial Fund

Vince Parra was an 18 year old, Buena Park Police Department Explorer.  He dedicated 3 years of his life to the Buena Park Police Explorer Post #474 and served the community and citizens of the City of Buena Park, as well as neighboring Orange County communities.  Vince volunteered over a thousand hours of his own time, working various details and performing acts of community service.

In 2013, Vince was diagnosed with cancer.  He fought it and won, returning to school and the Post.

(Explorers and Officers shave their heads as Vince goes through Chemo treatments for the first time.  Longer, female hair was dontated.)

In 2014, the cancer returned and Vince fought it again.

Vince went on to graduate high school, never having let his academics slip.  Vince insisted on continuing to attend Explorer functions, events, and details, continuing to serve the community, selflessly.  Vince was dedicated and determined to become a police officer.

This year, the cancer came back.  Vince fought back, but could not overcome it this time.

Over the past few years, Vince never gave up.  He never gave up on life.  He never gave up serving his community.  He never gave up on his dream of being a police officer.

Vince served as an inspiration to his fellow Explorers, who voted him Most Inspirational Explorer for 2013 and 2014.  Vince made an impact on the police officers of the Buena Park Police Department, who all knew and recognized him after seeing him participate at so many events.  He was known as being a hard working, dedicated Explorer.

This fund has been set up to help Vince's family and offset, if not cover, the cost of Vince's funeral and medical expenses.

Although Vince volulnteered his time to the community, that was time spent away from his family, so they gave Vince to us.  For that, Post 474, the Buena Park Police Department, and the community of Buena Park should be grateful.
