Vocational Training for the Deaf

Donation protected
My name is Alyssa, I am 24 years old, and I am from north central Florida. Last year, I received a very clear calling from God to serve the Deaf population in the Dominican Republic, so I packed up my life and moved.
For the past year, I have been working as a teacher at a school for the Deaf. The students are receiving a wonderful education, but the question for them is "What's next?" They get their education, but then what? There is no university for the Deaf, there are no interpreters, and no one wants to hire an employee that they can't communicate with. The Deaf Community is almost entirely unemployed, educated or not. We have decided to open up a location where members of the Deaf Community can come and partake in free vocational workshops. We hope to teach members of the Deaf community skills such as sewing, different aspects of a beauty salon, jewelry-making, baking, computer and cellphone repair, woodwork, furniture repair, pizza-making, and hopefully much more! Learning these skills will empower them and give them a better chance to find jobs and live successful, independent lives. The problem? We are starting from scratch. But this is how God likes to do things. He is the Perfect Provider, and when everything is said and done and the people are itching to hire the Deaf, all of the glory will belong to our Heavenly Father. I hope that you will join us in this vision to give hope to an oppressed community. Any amount of donation helps. The cost of starting a project like this (buying all of the necessary equipment) is enormous, not to mention the ongoing costs (monthly rent, electricity, pay for the teachers, etc.) Thank you for partnering with us in this! Whether you are able to donate or not, any and all prayers are appreciated!
I have set up a blog where I will be posting every so often to keep you all updated on how things are going. The link to that is http://experiencingthehandsofgod.blogspot.com/. God bless you!
