Staying Afloat w/heart complication

Donation protected

Recently, we have been through many unexpected trials, which have put a financial strain on us and depleted our "rainy day" funds.

Our Family
We are a family of five, Attila (father), Kim (mother), and three children: Samuel (12), Daniel (8) and Esther (6).

Our Story
On January 20th of 2016, Attila's father unexpectedly passed away. On day 2 of our drive to the funeral service in Chicago, Attila began to feel sick about five hours outside of Chicago. We stopped at a hospital and Attila was admitted on January 28th. After a couple of days and three different tests, the cardiologist summarized that Attila needed surgery, as he had an extensive irregular heart rate, had one ventrical which was pumping at 80% minimum capacity, and his oxygen levels were very low.

Attila was released, with a refferal to a Chicago doctor and hospital.

On the day of his father's memorial service, Attila was admitted to a Chicago hospital, and they performed emergency surgery 3 days later, on February 4th. The surgeon shared that the surgery failed, as the area of the heart that was impacted was unreachable through the method he used (this was after a 5 hour surgery). They put Attila on a heart medication to help reduce his iregular rythyms, and the next surgery was scheduled.

After the surgery, Attila was admitted three times into the hospital, as the medication was creating many other issues (low heart rate, fainting, insomnia, nightmares, low breathing abilities, etc.). We consulted a highly rated hospital during one of the ER visits, and they admitted Attila, and he had a second surgery on February 29th. This was to look at Attila's heart and to get a biopsy.

10 days after the second surgery, Attila was admitted into the hospital again, and they began weaning him off of the medication, as his pulse dropped to 34 and his breathing dropped to 90% capacity. They also placed him on a 30 day monitor, to review what happens with his heart in a typical day.

After two weeks on the monitor, there were enough examples of the irregular heart rates, as Attila had MANY episodes. They then put him on a special 24 hour monitor to count the number of irregular beats/episodes he has per day.

The third surgery was completed on April 12th by the Director of Physiology. Since the surgery, I have not had any irregular heartbeats.

The next step is to be checked weekly, and then a stress test to verify the improvement.

During this time, Attila also passed out from the irregular beats. He is now dealing with two torn discs in his back. He is scheduled for back surgery in early May to repair the damage.

ALSO - in April, our home was damaged by severe hail. The hail was softball sized and broke our windows and damages our roof. Many of our items were damaged and ruined by the rain, while our ladnlord is now tearing down the home to rebuild at a later date. Effectively, we are now homeless.

Our Need
We have accumulated over $300,000 in medical expenses, with close to $18,000 in expenses that are billed directly to us. We have used all of savings while Attila has been out of work, and we have no current income. We continue to be away from our home, as there are no surgeons in our area that can perform the surgery needed, while Attila is also not cleared to travel in his condition.

Aside from the medical bills, we also have rent (back in Dallas), car payments, and phone costs. We also have food, gas, and related costs to living away from home.

We have another 3-6 weeks away from home, depending on recovery and any therapy. Aside from the heart issues, Attila started feeling worse pain in his back, as he lay in the hospital bed, and an MRI showed that he has two torn discs in his lower back.

Our Goal
To raise $9,000, as this will cover costs for our bills and expenses, until we can get home and Attila can start working again.

We appreciate any donations, sharing of our post, and prayers.

Thank you.
