My name is Vladimir Ayriyan, I live in San Diego, California, and I'm 21 years old. I have a disease called Friedreich's Ataxia and I am looking for any support or donations that you may provide for my Stem Cell Treatment.
When I was nine years old, my mom began to see strange symptoms that led her to believe that something was wrong. She noticed that I would shake every time she held me and that my hands would tremble while doing simple tasks. After seeing many doctors in San Diego and Los Angeles, I was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia.
Friedreich's Ataxia is a disease that mostly affects the heart and nervous system; it's a neuromuscular disease. This disease not only effects me internally, but also physically. My nerves are dying and I am losing sensation in my hands and feet. I haven't been able to walk on my own since the age of 16. Ever since then, I have been using a scooter to get around. I am basically immobile without it. It is difficult to do everyday tasks because my muscles are so weak.
I am currently attending a community college and hoping to transfer to San Diego State University next year. I am majoring in computer science. This disease has impaired my abilites to keep up with other students and the fast pace of my classes. It is difficult for me to write, read, type, and complete assignments with limited time. Test-taking is specifically difficult. I have been in community college for four years while many of my friends have been able to complete the requirements within two or three years.
This disease has not only effected my life, but my family and friends. I have tried numerous different medicaitons and treatments, but nothing seems to help. We recently discovered that there is a stem cell therapy center by the name of StemGenex in Los Angeles. We strongly believe that this will provide a major result in my physical abilitites.
I have scheduled the procedure on August 21, 2014 and would appreciate any assitance in paying for this procedure. Even donations given after the treatment date will be used to pay for the bills. My family and I really need financial assistance because the operation costs $15,000 and we are incapable of bearing the expense.
