Hello everybody,
I'm Vivek Gohil, 27 years old, I live with a life-limiting muscle-wasting condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy & a bleeding disorder called Haemophilia. I'm in need of a new electric wheelchair
I require 24/7 care & my wheelchair gives me the freedom to have an active & purposeful life, without it I'd be stuck in bed isolated. I participate in various fundraising activities, interviews for my local Leicester Mercury newspaper regarding disability awareness, Parliamentary meetings in London, becoming an ambassador & Trailblazer for various Muscular Dystrophy charities. Blogging is my passion, I write about disability issues, assistive technology as well as disability representation in the media.
I'm extremely thankful for my current wheelchair, it has been my faithful friend for 13-years. However, not only have I outgrown it but it doesn't meet my basic requirements anymore.
The reasons why I require a new wheelchair:
- My current wheelchair does not have any Suspension so increasingly while travelling over bumps or long distances to meetings or conferences in my adapted vehicle I've had numerous neck/shoulder/lower back internal bleeds due to my Haemophilia. These are very uncomfortable and painful to recover from so it has resulted in me cancelling certain events.
- My current wheelchair is old so I'm unable to get Replacement Parts
- I need a new More Comfortable Seating and neck support
- Better integration of Assistive Technology so that my wheelchair control will be able to operate my mobile phone.
I wish to continue the life I've started and to do that I require a new power wheelchair.
The EVO LECTUS wheelchair has a strong and compact EVO chassis equipped with a 4-wheel suspension system which guarantees a smooth ride over bumps. The full-scale adjustable LECTUS seat system will be completely set-up for my needs.
SMART Wheelchair Limited brought the EVO LECTUS for a home demonstration and personalised everything for my test drive. They are an extremely supportive and professional company.
