Viva's Holiday Recording Project
Note: if you would like your contribution to this project to be tax-deductible, please donate through our Fractured Atlas 501(c)3 sponsorship page, at:
“If you’re looking for a theatrical alternative to the staged equivalent of a sugary, mass-produced holiday cookie, you probably can’t do better than Viva’s Holiday... Go see it!” – Megan Burbank, Portland Mercury
“A mostly quiet, touching, intimate family drama.” – Brett Campbell, Oregon ArtsWatch
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO CREATE AN AWESOME RECORD!
Original opera is a rare enough thing - but especially, original opera that tells a local story by an independent author, is lyrical and funny and moving, explores a universal theme of family disconnect, and confronts sex-worker shaming and patriarchal puritanism. Viva's Holiday is all of these things. Based on Magic Gardens: The Memoirs of Viva Las Vegas, the opera is not just theater - it's wonderful music, being performed by a fantastic troupe of singers, the same who recorded our previous Cult of Orpheus album which the press called "fervently beautiful."
Please donate today - we are going into the studio Nov. 5th and 7th! We still need to raise at least $2500 to cover all costs.

The total expenses we are covering include:
- singer and instrumentalist fees for rehearsals and recording sessions
- rehearsal space rental
- recording studio rental, sound engineering, mixing and mastering
- CD duplication (limited run)
- vinyl mastering and pressing (limited run)
- record release concert (performers and support staff)
- marketing (handbill and poster printing, online advertising)
This crowdfunding effort is just a small part of our total funding plan. Through major patrons, investment by the composer, and a successful fundraising event we have already raised over $11,000. We are just $2500 short of our minimum goal to fully cover recording costs - please help us get there.
We cannot do it without your help. Thank you for giving!
