Vinnie's Road To Recovery

Donation protected

I'm setting this up for my friend of 45 years, Maureen Bardone Caropreso and her family. Her husband, Vinnie is battling Stage 4 oral cancer. He was diagnosed in Nov. 2016 with Squamous Cell Carcinoma and has been through so much already and facing much more.

The tumor in his jaw was too large for radiation or surgery so Vinnie had to have 3 rounds of Chemotherapy which consisited of 96 straight hours of continuous treatment each time. After each round he would have 3 weeks off before he had to head back to the hopsital for another. 3 times a charm as his scans showed enough shrinkage to be able to have surgery which will be on March 1, 2017. His surgery will be 15+ hours long. His surgeons will remove his lower jaw bone on the right side and any muscle, nerves and soft tissue that is shown to be cancerous. They will remove his Fibula and any soft tissue they need to reconstruct his jaw.

Recovery will be a long and challenging time for Vinnie, Maureen and their 2 boys, Dominic who is a Junior at St. Bonaventure University and Joseph who is in the 7th grade at Pequannock Valley Middle School.

On top of all of this, they just received the sad news that their beloved dog, Hoover is also battling cancer.

Vinnie is the primary financial supporter of the family and will be out of work for some time recovering. Medical Insurance doesn't cover all of the scans, treatments and surgery and unemployment in no where near  what a family of 4 needs to survive. Maureen works part time at Pequannock Valley Middle School and will also have to take time off to care for him during his recovery.

I have know Vinnie since he started dating Maureen 28 years ago and will say that he is a very proud man so I know that they would not set this up for themselves and took it upon myself to do so. He is actually one of the hardest working men I know since in all of the years I have known him up until this time he has only taken 1 sick day and that was when he had cracked ribs. Even after his Chemo treatments he would go to work and put in a full day. So I know that besides what he has to physically endure, having  to be away from work will also be challenging to him.

Vinnie has been a Volunteer Fireman for 30 years with P.O.L. Fire Co. #2 in Wayne, NJ.
The family are members of Saint Mary's Church in Pompton Lakes, NJ

No amount is too small. I am asking all family, friends and colleague's to please help them during their time in need.

Thank you in advance,
