Hi friends,
My name is Michelle, and I am setting up this GoFundMe campaign for my friend, Victoria Zengo, whom I hold near and dear to my heart. I'm not quite sure how to start this thing out, as it has been nearly impossible to wrap my head around since hearing the news back in June...so I will just jump right in.
As some of you may already know, our sweet Victoria was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer) on June 29th, 2018. She has been quite the trooper since her diagnosis, and hasn't really shared the news with too many people.
After Victoria was diagnosed, she met with several different doctors around the LA + OC areas. The only options oncologists here gave were mastectomy (bilateral mastectomy since it also turned out she carries the BRCA2 gene mutation) and chemo & radiation.
Victoria started to heavily research various treatment options, and found an overwhelming amount of info, books, interviews etc of people healing their cancer in less harmful ways without chemo, surgery, and radiation...and so her journey with taking an alternative medicine route began.
Since her diagnosis, Victoria has been doing everything in her power to naturally fight her breast cancer. From IV therapy treatments, to eating a completely raw diet-you name it, she has done it. Her blood work has shown improvement, but, unfortunately, the tumor has not gotten any smaller.
After more research, Victoria found an alternative treatment center in Germany. She reached out to them and after many phone interviews, she decided this would be the next best step on her road to recovery. She was able to get a spot at the center in January. There she will be getting a “cancer vaccine” using dendritic stem cells and also hyperthermia to shrink her tumor, along with vitamin IVs and an array of other alternative treatments. The treatment center has seen outstanding results in their patients, and has a reputation as being one of the best alternative treatment centers available.
The past year has been a whirlwind of emotions for her, as she also unexpectedly lost her Mother last Sept 22, 2017. Between the traveling back and forth between Ohio (where her family resides) and LA and having daily appointments for treatments, she hasn't been able to work as much as she used to.
The downside of taking an alternative route has been having to cover all costs out-of-pocket. Although Victoria has been hesitant about starting a GoFundMe, I feel like it is the least that we can do to help lift her up during her battle.
The treatment center in Germany is going to cost Victoria $30,000 out of pocket, and that isn't including the flight to and from nor does it cover the 6-8 months of follow up supplements, IVs, and other protocol that will be determined during her treatment.
I am putting together this GoFundMe in hopes that we can at least help put a dent in some of the costs that will be adding up over the months. I know times are tough, but every little bit really does go a long way.
Victoria will be updating us throughout her journey. She understands that some people may not agree with her decision to fight this in an alternative way, but she truly feels and believes that this is the best option for her and hopes that others will respect her decision to do so.
It breaks my heart to even hear Victoria and cancer in the same sentence. Her resilience and determination to beat this once and for all has really illuminated over the months and I couldn’t be more proud to call her my friend. If you know her, or if you’ve only met her once, you already know how sweet and kind of a soul she is.
