Vicki's bucket list

£12,908 of £20,000 goal

Raised by 332 people in 8 months
Heartbreaking news that our good friend Victoria has terminal cancer.

It's painful for everyone yet we need to be proactive. We want to make the next few months as fun as possible for her and get her to cross things off her bucket list. We need all the contacts we can get and the money to fulfill her wishes. Whether it's helping her meet her idols and going to a film set, getting her on to a course of taxidermy or getting tickets to see Hamilton we want her to have as much fun in this tragic time as is possible. She would love to go to Japan so that's the goal. Get in touch if you can help, in any way. (Katywinship@hotmail.co.uk)

I love you wifey.

Vicki tells it best herself:

"My diagnosis of SCCOHT back in October always came with a terrible prognosis, so I had already prepared myself for the worst, whilst being super positive! It's rare, incredibly aggressive and there's not much hope when it comes back.

This time we can't operate. Rather than a large tumour like last time, the cancer is now in clusters covering my peritoneum - the lining holding my organs together.

Unfortunatley, this means it is terminal.   Doctors have to tell you the worst, miracles can happen, and I'm keeping a positive attitude, but we need to be realistic.
I can't even begin to describe how weird it is to be writing this!

So... I start a new chemotherapy next Wednesday 22nd. This is to prolong my life, it will not completely rid of the cancer.
Luckily, it'll only be 6 sessions in total, every 3 weeks. Not like the horrendous 18 I had to sit through before.

Once we finish treatment around Christmas, it's not likely there'll be any more options for me. I could be around for a good few months after, we just don't know right now.  ‍♀️

Until then, life will go on as normal! So let's hang out!

Words cannot express how much I appreciate everyones love & support over the last 10 months."

Please help. She has so many people that love her. She's only 32 but let's make all her dreams come true xxxx

For the benefit of Go Fund Me:

Who you are: I am Katy Winship, one of Vicki's best friends.
Where you're from: Leeds
Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: One of Vicki's best friends (practically family)
How the funds will be used (be specific as possible): To pay for funeral costs and bucket list activities.
If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf: I am transferring money regularly to Vicki/ booking things for her and looking into savings accounts for the money- any leftover will be going to the Cancer centre in Leeds and Vicki's family.

Sadly Vicki passed away on the early hours of Monday 21st January. Her funeral was on Tuesday 29th and it goes without saying that we gave her a good send off. The crematorium was over-flowing with people who loved and admired the strength and beauty of the wonderful human we have lost.

If anyone would like to donate in Vicki's memory for charity (yet to be confirmed, either St Gemma's hospice or a charity to be founded in Vicki's name in which we support people in similar situations) please do so.

We want to keep the momentum going and help others with the love you have for Vicki xxx

It's been a devastating few weeks as Vicki has decided to end her chemo treatment and choose quality of life over quantity.

This was a statement she made on Facebook earlier this week:

"Last week I was in hospital for 4 days & we got the CT results back. I'd been having a lot of new pains and it was probably one of the most depressing weeks of my life. It's just been a really tough couple of months!
Unfortunately, my tumours have grown significantly in the last 6 weeks and I have decided not to continue with anymore chemo (I only had 1 session left anyway).
Both the cancer and the chemo attacking me could see me in bed for the next few months, the possibility of shrinking some tumours, but they won't go away and we'll keep going back to square one. They mentioned weeks, but that could mean months. They never get it right.
I'm choosing quality of life over quantity.
My family, friends & I have been trying to prepare ourselves for this for months now, but nothing can prepare you for these conversations.
I was quite sure the tumours wouldn't give me any shit until the end of January!
Doctors and St Gemma's Hospice are monitoring my pain relief and I'll do my best to keep as active as I can be over the next few weeks.
When I've had too much, I'll be moving to St Gemmas Hospice. I'm confident they will do a great job of looking after me, despite the horrifying thought of not being able to look after myself!
I'm not going anywhere just yet, but thanks again everyone for your emotional and financial support. I am so blessed."

At this difficult time I would like to say thanks for all your support in making these months as enjoyable as possible for Vicki and your hard work in fundraising. Unfortunately, as funerals are expensive and Vicki would like to be able to arrange payment on her own funeral (as not to ask her parents to have to find the money) I have upped the target - any remaining funds will go to St Gemma's hospice.

Vicki will be having a George Michael themed Christmas as she wished and seeing as many friends and family as she can. She is very tired a lot of the time but in true Victoria style she is trooping on.

We love you Vicki and hope that you find some comfort in knowing that this has not happened to you in vain and we will always continue to raise funds and awareness for other sufferers of the rare ovarian cancer that is SCCOHT.

You guys are absolutely amazing and beautiful! 5k in a few days! I know Vicki is overwhelmed with the love and support you are giving, as am I.
Thank you for everything.

Many of you have been asking me for her bucket list and she has given me one which is relatively short. In her own words “she’s a simple gal”. So here goes:
Go to Bingo (done)
Get a massage
Alpaca walking trail
Go to Japan (top of list)
Go to Disneyland/ world
Go to Paris to see her favourite artist
Go see Hamilton and other west end shows
Visit a film set
More nice restaurants
More skating
See Jonalle Monae (meeting her would be awesome- likewise for other heroes still alive such as Robert Downey Jr and Rufus Wainwright)
Xmas day is George Michael day
Squish grapes with feet to make wine
Go on a taxidermist course

And some more suggested by me:
Go to an amazing moulin rouge type cabaret club
Be in a live studio audience
Go back to Berlin and Italy

If you have contacts or more suggestions get in touch. Love love love to you all xx
