Help for Heather

Donation protected
We are the friends and community of Heather Perin and her 3 children.

We are taking donations and other forms of relief to help support the Perin children and their mother as they transition into this healing phase of their lives.

The Perin family made national news on 4/25/18 when Neil Perin physically assaulted his wife and abducted their three children.  Neil has a long history of violence which has escalated leading up to this event.  After a day long manhunt the FBI, US marshal service, and Cleveland police found the children in an abandoned building.

Authorities said the children were found  "alone, barely clothed, and the infant was lying face down on the ground". Neil Perin was apprehended near by as he tried to escape capture.

These are the details which made national news.  The story, however, is not over. Officials say that this is one of the worst domestic violence cases Athens County has ever seen. There is an ongoing investigation and more charges are coming forth as Neil Perin remains in custody.

Domestic violence is often overlooked, excused, or denied. It is not pretty, it is not convenient, and the consequences can be devastating to an an entire community, especially when children are involved. We are thankful that the escalation of this situation resulted in capture and arrest.

Heather and her children are safe, and well cared for at this time. The Athens community has come together in such a loving and supportive way to assist Heather recover, and swiftly move on. We are enamored by her ability to care for three children on her own, and to handle this tragedy with grace.

She originally declined our offers for help, however, we found out that during the time that her husband was on the run with their children he managed to freeze all of their bank accounts and assets ( a common control tactic). Heather currently has no access to any of her own money.

We have hired an attorney to assist Heather with all legal matters. She and the children will have justice.

For all those who have commented "how can we help?". We encourage you to reach out to Heather especially if you know her personally. Please offer her encouragement during this very trying time. She is a strong woman, but any help with the farm, the family, and the emotional healing process is appreciated at this time!

We have been receiving Kroger gift cards, massage gift cards, flowers, and other loving tokens of support, any way to lift up a heavy heart as it heals is greatly appreciated.  The children love the meal deliveries so keep them coming!

For those who would like to offer financial assistance, please do so here. An account has been set up so that Heather can directly receive funds.

Heather is a strong woman and is dedicated to her own healing as well as her family's.  We encourage the greater community to offer a hand in any way as there are so many lose ends to tie up before Heather and the children can receive the fresh start that they deserve.

Thank you tremendously for your concern and assistance.

The Athens County Sheriff's department is asking that anyone with any information regarding Neil Perin's abuse and criminal history (related to or not related to this case) to contact Detective Brice Fick.
