Our daughter, Skye Shearer has long suffered with severe low-functioning autism and is also speech impaired, completely non-verbal and has very low muscle tone. She is severely delayed in fine and gross motor skills and social development. She is 12 years old, although functions at approximately 18 months old, developmentally speaking. She is unable to provide self-care or perform daily functions without constant supervision and assistance.
Insurance does not pay for any kind of medical treatment related to Autism. Over the past 12 years we've done numerous interventions and testing in efforts to help her. Testing has showed significant medical problems.
Skye is highly intelligent and knows what is going on around her, she just can't communicate and is stuck in a body that is very sick and unable to function effectively.

We are not the type of family to ask for help, although we feel that Skye is most deserving and we would like to give her the best chance in life to recover her health. We have hope in the regaining of her health with stem cells. We just want a better quality of life for her.
There have been so many obstacles and so much hard work in caring for her. We have encountered many struggles in dealing with Skye’s care, although we stay strong.
Thank you for any kind support to assist us in providing this for our daughter. It would make all of our hopes and dreams come true to be able to help her regain total freedom and independence and in being able to fully enjoy life. Skye deserves a chance at independence and a chance at a normal life.
