Meet Kara Ladd, a bright and beautiful 24-year-old woman inside and out! A graduate from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Kara has been living her dream in New York City for the past couple years, hired most recently by the prestigious Hearst Magazines—home of Harper's Bazaar, Esquire and Good Housekeeping—as their Partnerships Editor.
In the Fall of 2016, Kara noticed a lump in the back of her knee. Her doctors weren't particularly concerned at first (thinking the tumor was both common and benign) but decided to have it removed and a biopsy conducted. Upon return of the biopsy, the doctors informed her that the tumor was actually a malignant tumor. On December 9th, 2016, Kara was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma with biphasic micro-calcifications, an extremely rare form of cancer (1 in a million). With friends and family by her side, Kara decided to begin an aggressive treatment of chemotherapy and radiation for the next 6 months and undergo additional surgeries as needed. Despite the initial shock of her diagnosis, Kara remains in good spirits and is optimistic that she will “kick cancer's ass!” We set up this page to help Kara receive funds for the various expenses she'll have during the six months of treatment. Specifically, she would be very grateful if she could raise enough money to purchase a high-quality wig by next month.
