Help for Hoagie, the Brave Dog!
Donation protected

I saw this dog running down ventura rd in port hueneme, just past the steak and hoagie shop. cars stopped for him and then he turned on E B st. I turned around and saw that he had been hit before I got to him. I took him to port hueneme hospital, they couldn’t treat him then, since they already had emergency cases. I brought him to horizon veterinary in ventura on their recommendation. After initial testing, ultrasounds and x rays, it looks like he has fluid in his lungs, Several small fractures in his pelvis, and a back leg sheared from the socket. The leg will require surgery, if he can get off of oxygen. Also found out today that he has fractures in his other leg. I have charged $1800 on credit so far just to get him through his first 24 hours, and if he can stabilize he will need surgery that I’m sure will cost a lot more. The vet has estimated up to $10,000 in surgeries, from the information we have now. He does not have a chip, collar or tag, was not fixed. I have posted on all local pet sites and have filed a found report with the humane society. I also printed lost dog flyers and posted them in the blocks around where the accident happened.
Thanks so much to anyone who can pitch in!
