October 12, 2017 marks the last day Caitlin Little remembers. At age 14 she was running as a freshman on the cross country team. She was preparing for the biggest race of the season when she took a severe blow to the right side of her head from kids playing around on the sidelines.
After the concussion Caitlin's new memories lasted less than ten minutes. She was unable to return to school and her parents searched for doctors to help her heal. Caitlin slowly regained ability to hold new memories. Seven months after her injury she was able to remember about 12 hours. Since then she has made no progress. Each night her memories erase as she sleeps.
Her parents have tried numerous doctors, expensive tests and costly treatments outside of insurance coverage. They purchased a hyper baric oxygen chamber to increase oxygen to the brain.
Time is passing by and Caitlin is in more pain each day. One of her parents must stay with her which means they have a loss of income. At this point, they are searching for doctors across the country. They are looking at travel and lodging expenses for a long stay for treatment. The family appreciates any help you can provide. Most importantly they value your prayers for the family. Caitlin and her three siblings have lost so much as Caitlin suffers each day. Pray God will heal her. Pray he will carry this family when they feel weak. Pray they remain strong as this journey for answers has gone longer than any of us could imagine!

It has been several days since I provided an update and so many of you are kindly praying so here is where she stands now.
In Texas we did kind of a "reboot" of her brain along with providing her whole body the nutrients and therapy it needed to get back on track. It seems as part of the healing her length of memory is decreasing each day. As of now her new memories last 60 seconds or less before fading. We are hopeful the switch is about to flip and memories will stick like they should. She is growing stronger each day. She is slowly gaining weight. Her sense of humor and care for others has returned. We take these as signs we are on the right track.
We see the massage therapist at least 5 times a week for cranial sacral therapy. This has provided huge improvements in past two weeks. Her neck/skull are being gently directed back into the correct positions. We are doing this instead of a chiropractor.
Several folks have reached out with suggestions of using music. We completely agree and will continue to offer this opportunity but her 60 second memory has limited the success at this moment.
We are so grateful for all the advice, support and prayers! We are hopeful to have great news to share soon but until then pray for renewed strength as we enter my most busiest time of the year with a girl who can only remember one minute!!!!

2 steps forward. One huge step back! We are home and working to learn a new routine. One piece we didn't expect was Caitlin's memory to erase every 10 minutes! This is a big adjustment for all of us and unimaginable unless you live it! We are keeping a positive attitude as we know she is getting everything she needs to heal and this setback may be a step closer to healing. PRAY for us as this is super stressful for the entire family. She is frightened by our kittens every time she steps outside. She has to adjust to our family room every time she enters due to new sofa and wall decor. She has to make notes ALL day long to know what has happened. These are a few of the challenges of her day. We continue to trust the process and how God is leading us through this bump in the road
