October 12, 2017 marks the last day Caitlin Little remembers. At age 14 she was running as a freshman on the cross country team. She was preparing for the biggest race of the season when she took a severe blow to the right side of her head from kids playing around on the sidelines.
After the concussion Caitlin's new memories lasted less than ten minutes. She was unable to return to school and her parents searched for doctors to help her heal. Caitlin slowly regained ability to hold new memories. Seven months after her injury she was able to remember about 12 hours. Since then she has made no progress. Each night her memories erase as she sleeps.
Her parents have tried numerous doctors, expensive tests and costly treatments outside of insurance coverage. They purchased a hyper baric oxygen chamber to increase oxygen to the brain.
Time is passing by and Caitlin is in more pain each day. One of her parents must stay with her which means they have a loss of income. At this point, they are searching for doctors across the country. They are looking at travel and lodging expenses for a long stay for treatment. The family appreciates any help you can provide. Most importantly they value your prayers for the family. Caitlin and her three siblings have lost so much as Caitlin suffers each day. Pray God will heal her. Pray he will carry this family when they feel weak. Pray they remain strong as this journey for answers has gone longer than any of us could imagine!

So many of you have asked about Caitlin. She has had a tough two weeks of doctors ignoring her symptoms and treating her for wrong illnesses. This week we saw her general Dr who spent two hours with her and correctly diagnosed her problem. We are home working on healing her immune system so she can finally rest! Her memory is still about 60 seconds. Right now we believe treat immune system, gain sleep= brain begins to heal. We are going to cranial massage 5 times a week, looking for tests (special mri) to measure amount of cerebral fluid/blood flow going to brain. We had to purchase new equipment to support daily oxygen therapy. She is unable to stay in chamber at this time due to such a short memory. She doesnt understand and gets anxious being trapped in a bubble ( hmmm who wouldnt)
So we thank everyone for all the prayers and support. Our main focus is rebuilding her body, gaining rest and relieving her cranium pain. We, as her parents, are super stressed. So many milestones have passed with no healing. Many critical decisions to make before I go back to teaching in four weeks. Expenses are multiplying. Are we showing our other children enough attention? When will we have time to talk/laugh about trivial stuff? This summer has been much harder than we anticipated. Keep the prayers coming. Help us reach a few milestones before summer wraps up♥

I'm struggling to stay positive and hopeful! I won't go into details but we continue to take one step forward and 3 steps back. I honestly thought at 21 months from her injury we would have made huge progress and she would be back to a more normal life with friends. I don't even know what to think. I just can't shake the negative feelings today.

We go to cranial sacral/energy therapy every day for Caitlin. She endures the pain and confusion better than any other person I know. Today she had the rare opportunity to do healing touch on her sister's feet ( Sarah sprained both ankles at camp). So grateful God gave me the eyes to see beauty in midst of a horrible storm. From being healed on the table to healing her sister

We've wrapped up another school year. I struggled to finish this year but I got it done. Now I turn my complete focus ( ok 90%, 10% for the others)to helping Caitlin. Her life is lacking joy and hope with only a 60 second memory. She goes to cranial therapy 5 times a week. She gains relief only to forget it a minute later. Hard to "know" you are healing when you face so much pain. The blow to her head shifted so many bones, put oressure on areas not meant to carry the load and even altered her breathing. She still sleeps less than 3 hours total each night. I'm determined to give this child REST!
I say all of this with a heavy heart and then out of of no where I receive a message of hope. A glimmer for a chance to improve her quality of life while we search for healing. God is still with us. I can't judge his work even though as a life long teacher it does come second nature...lol! Pray for Caitlin to find REST and relief from the pain in her ears and head. If we all focus our prayers, she will feel it and I believe prayers will be answered
