Van for Dan

Dan is a young man who has faced many challenges, but always with a smile. Dan has epilepsy and suffered a 24 minute seizure at a young age, which resulted in global brain damage and severe developmental delay. Medical specialists were adamant that Dan would spend his life lying on his back, with no chance of development. The prognosis was bleak.
Dan has spent his life so far, proving doctors wrong. While Dan can currently walk short distances, he is working on building his stamina and abilities through experience. Our beautiful country has so much to engage and stimulate the senses. Sometimes, what seems like a simple trip to a bayside spot, can serve so many purposes for Dan. Raising Dan's awareness of his surroundings and giving him the chance to experience things we might think of as simple or everyday, has broadened his world. His brain function and cognitive ability is continually improving when he is able to get out and about, but currently he is limited to travelling no more than half an hour from home in the event he needs a change. Disabled toilet facilities aren't conducive to his needs, as I need an adult size bed to change him.
This campaign aims to allow Dan to develop his brain function with stimulation from the outside world. An appropriately modified van will allow Dan to experience more from our world. The van that we require to achieve this needs to have a bed installed in the back, to allow me to change Dan when we are out and about, without returning home.
Normal disabled facilties do not cater for the needs of a 24 year old, who needs to lay down to be changed. The van will give Dan the freedom to live his life to the fullest and not be restricted by access to a toilet.
We need to reach the $90,000 goal as soon as possible, because Dan's cognitive skills are regressing as he is not getting the stimulation he needs to maintain a higher level of function.
