Created October 4, 2018
Vance Lefort is an incredible husband, father, son, friend, coach, co-worker and a significant part of the Fort Collins community.  He went to High School at Loveland High and after graduation attended CSU on a football scholarship.  Vance's passion for football continues today as he invests in the lives of student athletes at Fossil Ridge High School.  He has helped coach football faithfully since 2005.

Vance is in a literal fight for his life!  After struggling with complications and several different treatment scenarios, he found out in early August that he has stomach cancer.

Vance has been a dear friend of mine since 2003.  He needs our help!  His cancer is preventing him from being able to work at Walker, where he has faithfully invested himself since graduating from CSU over 30 years ago.  Their financial needs are significant!  From the regular expenses of living, to their daughters school bills at UNC, and the mounting medical bills, WE CAN HELP!

Vance & Kelly (his wife) have made a difference in so many people's lives!  Now it's our chance to help them.  So will you please donate what you can and make sure to keep Vance and his family in your prayers!

You can also help by leveraging your social media for good by sharing this page with everyone you know!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND BE A BLESSING TO THE LEFORT FAMILY!

Thank you!

Doug

Team LeFort…

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Again, there really is no way to express the gratitude the LeForts feel knowing they aren’t on this journey alone!

Wanted to give you all a quick update on Vance’s progress and the next steps on this road to recovery.

Praise God he has finished chemo and radiation.

What a HUGE milestone. As you know, this seemed like a never-ending routine of trips to the clinic, and hours upon hours of sitting. When you combine that with Vance’s 14 course meal every day (that’s how many hours a day he’s connected to his feeding system), that makes for some long, monotonous days!

Kelly has pretty much earned, through the school of hard-nocks, her NA. That’s the "non-certified" version of the Nurses Assistant Degree. We need to make sure she gets some scrubs and a certificate to hang on the wall!

Great news, Vance is up to 177 pounds from a low of 143. He has been steadily gaining weight and strength. He now goes to Physical Therapy to continue to working on gaining some more strength in preparation for the upcoming surgery.

The surgery is scheduled for April 11th, back at the Mayo Clinic. Please be praying in advance of this surgery, and also for his surgeon, Dr. Travis Grotz, and his team that will be working on Vance. We will update you on the time of surgery when we know more.

So there are lots of steps on his road to recovery that we can celebrate as completed. This has been a challenging journey, but if you know Vance and Kelly, they have been walking this together, pushing through every obstacle.

I also want to thank so many of you for your gracious financial support of the LeFort family. Your generosity has helped keep them afloat during this challenging time. As you know we aren’t to the finish line yet!

As the days become weeks, and the weeks become months, the financial needs continue to be very real. As you can imagine keeping the mortgage and utilities paid, Tavia’s college bill, the countless medical bills, and soon the travel expenses related to getting back to the Mayo Clinic for surgery and recovery, all continue to add up. As we have learned, if everyone does a little, together we can do a lot!

Vance and I have known each other for almost 20 years. He is like a brother to me and I love him, Kelly and the kids like family. This is why I wanted to set this site set up for them. I also know from personal experience, how vital this support can be to a family in crisis.

I just looked today and there have been 8090 hits on this page for Vance. We have together raised, at the time of this writing, $22,526 of the $50,000 I was hoping to raise.

To date, exactly 150 people have contributed to help the Lefort household stay afloat. That is absolutely incredible, and another example of what we can do when we pull together. Think about this with me, what if that 150 was 1,000? We would blow our goal away! If you haven’t contributed would you consider doing so today. Please try to put yourself in their shoes, they really need our help!

Please pray about making a donation to help with all these costs, and please repost this on your social media platforms! FINALLY, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY!

Thanks guys,
Doug

What's up Team Lefort? I trust you all had a wonderful Holiday Season and the New Year is off to a great start.

I wanted to give you a quick update on Vance's progress and share with you some awesome news about our next steps.

After several more rounds of chemo Vance and Kelly were able to head back to MN to check in with his doctors at Mayo. It was a great trip and the reports were all positive.

Vance's tumor has gotten smaller, so Praise God the Chemo did what it was supposed to. It was a HUGE milestone receiving this news. While they were at Mayo the decision was made to finish with a final round of Chemo and then begin intense radiation.

So - Vance has now finished that last big round of chemo and is heading quickly to the radiation stage. This will begin on January 16th.

The radiation treatments are EVERY DAY!

Vance tolerated the Chemo really well. Anyone that knows Vance personally would expect nothing less - he's a tough guy for sure. Another praise is that he has steadily been gaining weight thanks to countless hours on his feeding tube and his wonderful nursing assistant, Kelly, keeping him on track day-in-and-day-out.

A couple prayer requests for you all. First of all please pray for continued health physically and emotionally. This has been a grind to say the least. As you would expect the Lefort's lives have been turned up-side-down since August. Understandably this takes a toll. When I get to visit they are doing well, staying very positive and relying on the Lord every step of the way. However, some extra prayers for this next chapter of doing radiation would be awesome.

Also, please pray for the radiation to do its thing. I'm praying for the tumor to be gone by the time they head back to Mayo for his big surgery.

Finally, please continue to pray for financial provision. God has been faithful and your generosity has been a HUGE BLESSING. Vance has been out of work since August and their bills keep piling up. If you wouldn't mind posting a link to this GoFundMe site on your social medial outlets again I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for caring the way you do and thanks for all the ways you have been supporting Vance and his family.

God Bless & I'll update again when we have more news.

Doug

Hey Team Lefort...I trust you are all doing well. Thanks so much for keeping Vance and the family in your prayers.

Here is a quick update.

Vance has one more round of Chemo next week! Praise God! This will be a HUGE DEAL to have this done! After he recovers from the last treatment, Vance and Kelly will head back to Mayo for an evaluation and development of the plan for his surgery. Please continue to pray this all goes well and that Vance's surgery is able to be scheduled ASAP!

Vance and Kelly are in good spirits, yet ready for the next step in beating this cancer!

On another note for those in Fort Collins, Vance will be sharing some of his story and testimony at Timberline Church THIS WEEKEND! What an opportunity to share about the goodness of God in the middle of an extremely difficult battle! They will be sharing at the Saturday and Sunday services. PLEASE SUPPORT THEM IF YOU CAN BY BEING THERE!

Here is a link to Timberline's website for times and directions.

Please be in prayer for Vance and Kelly as they get to share their story. Pray that many lives will be touched by what they share, and that those that are also fighting all kinds of different battles in their own lives will also be encouraged by their story of faith!

Hey guys...just wanted to give you a quick update. Vance has two more rounds of chemo before he will head back to Mayo in MN to determine next steps. We are praying, and ask you to join us in praying, that he will be ready for the surgery to remove this tumor once and for all!

If you missed it 9 News in Denver did a really nice piece on Vance and Kelly. They way they & the kids have navigated this has been inspirational to say the least.

Here is a link to the video! Please repost it on your social media sites. I have also been told they will be sharing Vance's story at Timberline Church in December.

PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!!
