A VAN to bring Hope to the Homeless

Dear all,
Hope for the Homeless is reaching out to the homeless community in Cork City since September 2016.
It is our mission to provide support no matter how they found themselves in this position, food, clothing, toiletries, financial assistance for accommodation if possible, a kind listening ear, and understanding.
We are out every other Friday night, outside Brown Thomas, to give any help we can.
Our Hope Café is opened every Saturday in The Haven, Bachelors Quay, where we provide a hot meal, shelter and support for those who really need it. We also try to place one person each weekend in a B&B to have a comfortable and warm night.
Our Hope 12 steps Recovery program is available every Tuesday from 1 to 3pm in The Haven, Bachelors Quay for anyone trying to overcome life’s hurt, hang ups and habits of drug and alcohol.
We help anyone to access addiction and rehab centre by providing financial and emotional support.
Our volunteer Charity Director, Gillian Horgan, regularly do follow up work with people we’ve met by:
- visiting in prison if needed,
- accompanying in court assisting with Housing application,
- help with setting up into a new house/shared room,
- giving personal references.
Our long term vision is to have our own building from where we can be always available to people in need.
Until then, a VAN will help us to collect donations from anywhere in County Cork, carry any clothing and food to our outreaches places and emergency kits for anyone sleeping outside in the streets of Cork.
All your donations will help us to buy this VAN and to cover also its insurance and tax.
Hope for the Homeless is only possible because of the kind support and compassion of the public which is constantly needed.
