On Thursday May 14th Liam was taken to Childrens Hospital in Columbus Ohio due to a fever and low hemoglobin levels.  What has unfolded since has left his family and friends in shock.   We ask first and foremost for your prayers for healing for Liam and strength/peace for his family!

A tumor was discovered on top of Liams kidney.  Many tests have been done in the days that followed, each test resulting in more difficult to hear news.  Liams cancer has been found to be on top the kidney, and throughout his bones and bone marrow.

Little Liam is in a battle against stage IV Neuroblastoma, a very rare pediatric cancer that only has 650 cases in the US annually.  The treatment plan spans the next 18 months IF things go smoothly which we pray they will, and brings along with it astronomical medical costs.

Our prayer through this GoFundMe page is that the financial stress can be removed from Tim and Julie, and that because of the outpouring of support, they can give all their attention to Liam, and his two older siblings Quincy and Addie without fear and concern for how they will pay their portion of the medical expenses.

Thank you in advance for your support! #pray4Liam

From Tim Varughese:
Stem Cell Transplant! Today was a day of great significance. A day we've waited in anticipation of for 6 months. The chemo Liam had last week has completely wiped out his bone marrow, now it's time to put his stem cells, which were harvested a few months ago, back into his system. The stem cells will start working to rebuild his marrow. We've seen some posts from friends that assumed it was a surgery of some sort, which is a very common misconception. It was a ten minute procedure in the room, much like a normal blood transfusion. Many celebrate this day like a birthday, since his immune system will be starting over, a rebirth of sorts if you will. He will need all of his vaccinations again, and will have to rebuild immunity to normal bacteria and viruses that we come in contact with everyday. I can't help but draw the comparison to the rebirth that comes through salvation. Liam was given a new chance at LIFE today, and it came through his blood. We are all given the chance to live an ETERNAL LIFE, and it comes through the blood of Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord!

Liam continues to do well. He has thrown up in the morning three days, but follows that up with a good breakfast and no more nausea throughout the day. His doctor said they started rounds in his room today, because he's doing the best of anyone in the transplant unit currently. They also let us know that an extensive case review of Liam's progress was presented to the tumor board this week, because he's done so well. The doctor that was sharing this story with us said she was amazed to see all of his scans and the incredible response he's had since diagnosis. This isn't a reflection on the doctors, hospital, staff, drugs, or parents....This is a reflection on the power of prayer!!!! Thank you all for your involvement in this healing. We believe God hears the prayers of his people.

I was telling Julie this week how long it's been since I've heard or sung the Doxology. I've been singing it this week, and feel it's appropriate now:

"Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen."

This is the latest from Tim and Julie:
Next week, we will be taking Liam several days for some very important scans and tests. We will be going Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and the following Monday. He will be sedated several times for all of these. Each day holds a few scans and tests. These are all to hopefully prepare for his transplant. He needs a score of 2 or less on his MIBG scan to be able to move along to the transplant phase. Otherwise, he will need to have a different type of therapy to hopefully get him to that number. If this is needed, that is not good and will prolong his treatment plan. We of course would love to hear the words, "no evidence of disease." Some of the other tests and scans will be done to see what his side effects have been so far, from the chemo...such as hearing loss, etc. So, it is a very important time for us and we would appreciate everyones prayers. If Liam is ready for transplant, we will be admitted on Oct.12 for transplant chemo. The chemo round will last a week and is very aggressive and harsh to wipe everything out. We were told it is so harsh that without the stem cell transplant that follows, his body would never be able to fully recover. Transplant date will be Oct. 20th. We will be inpatient then starting Oct 12th, and they told us to expect to be there 4 to 6 weeks. It all depends on his recovery. Please just pray for our entire family during this time. We know a Healer!

Liam has finished his fifth round of chemo and was home to watch the Buckeyes last night with his family! Next up later this month is the stem cell transplant which will require Liams longest stay in the hospital so far.
In the mean time, please continue to pray: that Liam won't get sick, that no cancer would reappear in areas where the chemo has eliminated it, for his siblings as they go through this with him, for Tim and Julie, amd for the many other kids they have met at Childrens whose treatment is not going as smoothly.

Praise God there is much to update! Liam has been doing well and responding to the chemo treatments. He has done his first 4 rounds and testing shows the main tumor has shrunk from 3 inches to 1 inch. Also the presence of cancer throughout the skeletal structure has been reduced greatly! Please continue in prayer as Liam will have the main tumor removed this week.
