Puerto Rico Strong

$62,627 of $1.0M goal

Raised by 698 people in 8 months
I didn't even know where to begin with this campaign but I know that I can't just watch my beautiful island of Puerto Rico suffer such devastation and not do anything. I'm giving it a shot. I am gathering a team together so that we can personally go there and help. I own a salon and will make my business a drop off location. Anything will make a difference if we all come together. Donate what you can. I will use these funds to help rebuild homes. I will travel with a team to PR and manage the funds myself so that they are allocated appropriately. 100% of these funds will be used for the victims of Hurricane Maria. My goal will be to get to the smaller towns that don't have the resources to seek help. Thank you all in advance!

Hello everyone! It’s been a while. In addition to preparing for our Charity Ball on 2/8, we are still working with what we have left. We have placed a woman that lost everything in the Hurricane and came here with her daughter (with Lupus). While her daughter was in the hospital, she was living in a shelter where she had to take her daughter after being released from the hospital. We have also placed a few others with employment and goods to survive in the cold. While our visit to Puerto Rico in December to our disbelief there was still so many homes with no electricity or water, families with children sleeping on hammocks and military cots, roofs leaking (tarps are deteriorating), no furniture or appliances, contaminated water and the sick still losing their lives amongst many other issues. FEMA is understaffed and underfunded. When I have posted that FEMA hasn’t done much it is NOT because of the employees(I don’t want anyone to take offense, we are all in this together). They are also frustrated and doing all they can but they can only work with the resources they have and orders given. My position from the beginning has been that much of this work will have to be done by us. There is simply too much red tape and a government that is too overwhelmed and seems to have very little answers.
We are now a non-profit organization! We have created a board and are having a Charity Ball named “For the Love of Puerto Rico”. PLEASE COME SUPPORT! We hope to see you all there. Details are on the website fortheloveofpuertorico.ORG

Yup!! These are YOUR donations!! Container #2 also arrived today!! We are still working hard in Puerto Rico. My family has done such an amazing job helping me with this campaign. This event was put together by my cousin's children. They set up a pop up distribution center in #LasMarias one of the most devastated towns that is IMPOSSIBLE to get to some of its areas. How amazing!!!!! I will be posting more of container #2! Container #3 is still in route. It will arrive in the next few days. Thank you all so much for your support. Please don't forget about the monetary donations. That is how we pay for shipping. The link is in my bio #PuertoRicoStrong ♥️♥️♥️

Update on Puerto Rico Strong:
Received a phone call today from Edwin Irizarry Mora professor, politician, humanitarian) who tells me that our campaign has made such an impact, everyone now knows who we are around the island and are so grateful for all that we've done. This is all thanks to YOU and your donations.
WHATS NEXT:
Container #2 finally arrives on Friday in PR. Container #3 is on its way.
Our toy drive will commence today and end on the 11/12 so that container #4 arrives before we do on 12/3. We have a confirmed team of 6 going with us to distribute toys and put smiles on the children's faces. We will also distribute the donations that did not fit in container #3.
