Help keep history alive!
Our program is a living history program that plays base ball (yes, two words) as it was played in the 19th century. We educate the public on the history of our National Pastime and how it ties in to the history of our country. We not only play games as they were played in the 19th century but we travel across the country teaching at schools, libraries, and even at the Baseball Hall of Fame .
We also play as part of a living history 19th century village in New York where vintage base ball was first played. Now, due to budget cuts our program is at risk. Our expenses are many and quite honestly costly. Replica uniforms that vary depending on which year we play (which means at least two sets of uniforms per team), replica 1864 baseballs, specially made wooden bats and of course insurance are just a few of our many expenses. These expenses used to be covered by the county several years ago but for the past few years players have been digging into their pockets for this worthy endeavour. Unfortunately, we lose many a player this way and now our program is at risk of ending. It would be a great loss if this program which has existed for over 37 years and was the first of its kind, would end due to money. Help us keep this program alive in 2018!
