Off to SEE the Wizard!

Jamie and Noah would love to have the opportunity to experience these new glasses. I humbly ask for your help in raising funds to helps these two young boys see what all the rest of us take for granted.

Remember what it felt like to experience Munchkin land with Dorothy the first time she opened the door from her house and emerged into a brilliantly colored new land? Every color popped and sparkled. Wonder filled her eyes at the majesty of this magical new place.  The story would have been a whole lot different had Dorothy been color blind.  Just imagine not seeing a rainbow or experiencing the grandness of a field fully of poppys.  For Jamie and Noah every day life could be full of color; full of beautiful colorful things!

Their mother explains these special new glasses....

Rainbows for Jamie & Noah

Eleven-year-old Jamie and seven-year-old Noah are two very different brothers with one big thing in common: they both have moderate protanomaly, a form of colorblindness which prevents them from seeing most colors.  The boys have never seen pink, orange, a true green, real red, and they can’t tell the difference between purple and blue.  Sunsets and rainbows don’t mean much.  Life with colorblindness presents many special challenges.

The company EnChroma recently developed a new line of sunglasses that can improve the color vision of 75% of people with Jamie & Noah’s type of color deficiency.  For our boys, wearing these glasses would be like Dorothy opening the door to Oz for the first time.

Each pair of EnChroma glasses costs approximately $400.  If we raise enough funds, we will buy a pair specially sized for each boy.  If not, we’ll buy one pair in the size that comes closest to fitting both boys.  EnChroma also offers a money-back guarantee: if the glasses don’t work for Jamie and Noah, we can return them for a full refund, which means we would return the money to our donors if the glasses don’t work.

Any donations will go toward sending Jamie and Noah “somewhere over the rainbow.”  A big thank you from our hearts!

My goal is to raise $900. This will cover the cost of both glasses and the shipping. Once our goal has been reached, Amy will order the glasses and I'd like to film their reactions from seeing new colors for the first time. With Amy and Mike's permission I will post it for donors to see.

Won't you please follow the yellow brick road and help Jamie and Noah SEE Oz for the first time?
