The mission of Virgin Islands College and Career Access Now (VICCA Now) is to assist youth and adult learners in gaining life skills that focus on debt free options necessary to transition from secondary education into their post secondary choices and become positive change agents in their community.
Since the hurricanes hit, many students became discouraged about going to college, many of them stopped pursuing higher education and stopped taking the steps to get to college. We are hoping that these workshops will help educate and empower these young people. Our goal is to bring them one step closer to their college dream.
This money will be used to buy school supplies for the students in attendance. We will be doing four workshops total, two in St. Thomas and two in St. Croix. We expect a total of 200 attendees (50 per session). We estimate that if we spend $10/per student we will be able to make an impact.
