USS Fitzgerald Sailors

Donation protected
My son is a Sailor on the USS Fitzgerald. We are extremely grateful that he is ok and our hearts and prayers are with the families of his 7 Brothers who were lost and his fellow shipmates.

When my son called to let us know he was ok, he mentioned how the the majority of his shipmates lost everything after the compartments flooded.  The Navy will replace Navy-related items (uniforms, boots etc) but these sailors lost all of their civilian possessions. So as a Navy Mom, Navy Wife and Navy Aunt, my first thought was to rally for our Sailors and start collecting items they need. Currently they are most in need of clothes (jeans, shirts, hoodies), shoes and brand new items such as underwear, undershirts and socks (especially the dark/navy blue short-sleeve t-shirts they wear under their NWUs (uniforms) and black boot socks). My husband and I are collecting new and gently-used clothes and shoes and are personally covering the cost to ship the donated items to Yokosuka.

Additionally, our Sailors need toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razors combs etc, and feminine products, as this is a co-ed ship. They are also in need of gift cards to help them purchase these items as they need them until they are back on their feet again. Every dime you donate will go to purchasing gift cards for the Sailors to assist with unexpected living expenses and purchasing items they will need on an on-going basis there in Yokosuka.

There are things we cannot replace...a life, a precious photograph, letters and cards from loved ones...but if we all pull together, we can help replace some of the tangible day-to-day items our Sailors need.   So I'm humbly asking for your help.

Our Sailors are grieving the loss of their brothers while still trying to move forward. They need us right now, so let's come together and support them. I appreciate you.

Thank you.
