USA Knights 2018 Video Project
The USA Knights are heading to the International Medieval Combat World Championships in Scone, Scotland, and we want to tell their story!
Full-contact medieval armored combat is the toughest and fastest-growing sport in the world today, and th USA team is one of the top challengers for the title this year! Zorikh Lequidre and Brad Blackmon are combining their talents and experience to create a video documentary f the team's journey to glory that will bring all the excitement and intensity home! It will be the next best thing to being there!
Zorikh Lequidre (AKA "Captain Zorikh" produced fought with the team in its first three years and produced the first two documentaries of the team at the world championships. Brad Blackmon is fightin on the team this year and beings his award-winning, professional video production experience with him. Together these two fighters and filmmakers will give a real insider's perspective on what it is like to be with the team on this journey. This video will give unprecedented depth to the subject giving the public a new appreciation for this sport that we love!
The video will be available from the producers, through Amazon.co, and other public sales venues, and intends to be listed on IMDB.
The his fundraiser will help cover the travel and production costs for this video. We are looking to bring two videographers, international photojournalist Tadej Znidarcic (who was the lead camera person for "American Knights 2015) and Vitor Fraga (Who recently produced a mini-doc of the NYC team of the Armored Combat League) to to most of the camerawork, while Brad, Zorikh, and other members of the team will be shooting whatever they can.
Brad and Zorikh will edit the footage, with the final product targeting a release date by the end of the year.
The funds raised will be used for airfare, hotel costs, food, batteries, memory chips, and the other expenses of production, video editing time, dplication and distribution of the final product, and the cost of the "perks" that are being offered to the supporters of this project.
And we will have lots of valuable "perks" for those who help us reach our financial goals. These will include copies of the video, T shirts and hoodies, postcards from Scotland and much, much more! Keep an eye on the funding options on the right of the page, ans more perks will be added soon!
If you have a business that targets people who love medieval history, medieval combat, medieval fantasy adventure, and hard core fight sports, corporate sponsorship is also available!
So Watch This Space for more details, including videos about the team as it prepares, and find out how much this sport means to the participants, and this project means to us who are making this video.
Good news: I have found a whole bunch of footage I thought was lost! This includes a lot of stuff from the first day of fighting and the day that preceded it. This will make that first day a lot more complete and gives us material that will make the final product richer and more in-depth.
Also, the popularity of the new TV show "Knight Fight" on the History Channel is bringing a lot of viewers to the footage I have posted on http://www.youtube.com/newyorkknightscombat1 This has even brought at least one more supporter to the project!
Other news: Yes, this will delay the finishing of the project. Also delaying it is another project that must get done within the next month and a temporary assignment that is taking up a lot of my "free time."
This being the case , I have asked a couple of people who are prt of the team and do excellent video work if they would liek to helop with the completion of the project.I will be happy to announce it when agreements are reached, and look forward to seeing their work.
Also, to help max out the promotional potential of "Knight Fight," I am trying to slam out a short video promoting those fighters on the show of which I have footage. This has already brought over 50 new subscribers, which will help in monetization of the channel, which will help defray the cost of this project.
Just to give you an example, here is some video of Micah Nelson, which I shot in Houston at the tournament to which I went to interview him. I also got a bunch of interview footage of other fighters that day that will help this project.
Onward and Upward!
With that in mind, I am flying to the Armored Combat League's day of singles matches in Houston, Texas this weekend. There I will be interviewing certain members of the team to get that depth and well-rounded picture I am looking for.
This, of course, is setting the completion date back further, but I would rather have a project I know you will enjoy and of which I am proud than one about which I will constantly be saying "it could have been better if only..."
I will be flying out to Houston for an Armored Combat League tournament to interview a few of the featured fighters who were at the ICF World Championships. With this, I expect the the project will have that finishing touch that will make it worthy of the subject and as informational as it is entertaining for you to watch.
My apologies for the continued delay. Be assured that it will only make the project better.
In the meantime, here is a little clip from the current version of the project. It is of a fighter who has traveled a remarkably long way to get to the event,,,
I still have to do the All-on-alls and some of the singles bouts, review the interviews, decide where to put them, polish up the rough cuts, add an opening and closing, create titles, and then do the final edit.
Completion by Christmas is in striking distance!
