Valerija lost her only child, Maksim in a tragic train accident in London on 1st November 2018.

https://www.itv.com/news/london/2018-11-01/teenage-boy-dies-after-being-hit-by-a-train-in-mortlake/

Maksim was 15 years old. He was a beautiful, bright, kind young man who brought joy to all the lives he touched.

Valerija, a single mother trying to do the best for her boy, not only lost her only child, but her best friend, her companion, her champion, her everything.

The Universe is sometimes unfair and cruel.

A month before the tragedy Valerija lost her job. Now she cannot face living in the same apartment that she shared with Maksim. She spent her savings on the funeral.

As she struggles with the crushing loss of her son, she is also unemployed and effectively homeless, currently staying with friends.

Please help.

Every £ is needed.

Valerija URGENTLY needs funds so that she can find a new home and start to re-build her life.

And please, please, please spread this to your friends.

Thank you.

Dear friends, we hope you are all having peaceful holidays. Some news and a request.

Maksim's school, Richmond Park Academy has notified Valerija that they will name the new school gym building in honour of Maksim. This is a blessing as it will keep his name associated with the school for years to come. Our thanks to the school principal, Mr Paul Mundy-Castle and to all those involved in the decision. Like your gifts, it is an inspiring gesture.

PLEASE HELP if you can: unfortunately, despite your generosity, Valerija has been unable to locate a suitable apartment near East Sheen Cemetery (TW10). It is proving very difficult. Perhaps it is the impact of airbnb or just that the area is popular. But we have tried all the obvious avenues.

If you know of any landlords or apartments (1-2 bed) in the area, or if you have any suggestions for the best way to find somewhere, please contact us via "HelpV" email symbol next to V's picture and we will pass on to Valerija.

ANY suggestions / contacts will be very welcome.

Areas: East Sheen, Richmond, Kew, Roehampton, Putney.

Thank you again for your interest and support. We all wish you a joyful new year.

Some words from Valerija...

“Dear friends, acquaintances and strangers who have not passed by the catastrophic situation in my life. There are no words to express my gratitude to all of you. I read all your messages and feel your support. You all shared my pain. Unfortunately I can not answer to all personally now. I go to my boy every day, but all the time I find myself thinking that this is some kind of nightmare and I should finally wake up ... Several people offered me a job, thank you very much. Little bit later I really need that. Now my physical condition has also been greatly shaken, but I will definitely recover. Thanks to you all, I see only one goal now. To become stronger to help others. Return the good and support that you are giving me now.”

Some words from Pan and Zita...

“We have all been overwhelmed by the generous support and words of sympathy and comfort. We cannot thank you and the team at gofundme enough. Of course, nothing will ever make up for Valerija's loss. But the funds do help. We have already been looking for an apartment for Valerija near the cemetery where Maksim was laid to rest. She visits him every day. Perhaps, just as importantly, knowing that so many people have taken the time to read and donate has been a source of light in all the darkness. Bless you all.

When we started the campaign, we had no idea what to expect or the extent of the financial difficulties that Valerija would face. Following advice we have decided to keep the campaign running and so we have revised the goal. Whilst the council has been sympathetic, Valerija has lost her position for council accommodation as she is no longer a single parent and has made her self intentionally homeless. Private accommodation in the area of the cemetery is expensive, and landlords require substantial advance rent and deposit, especially when the applicant is unemployed. Additionally, our friend has developed some health issues, both mental and physical. Whilst she tries very hard to remain positive, it seems unlikely that she will be able to return to full time employment any time soon.

Be assured that every pound will go directly to Valerija to help with her accommodation and other immediate needs whilst she regains her health and strength. We will post further updates in due course. Thank you again.”
