Let's get Monk Dawg on his feet!
For those of you who have had a chance to get to know this uniquely kind, funny and dedicated soul...you know that he would give the shirt off his back to help out his friends and family. And right about now is when he could actually use a little help from his friends!
You see, unfortunately, Monk has fallen on hard times...his deteriorating health has landed him in the hospital more times than we can count, generating a mountain of medical bills with no secure income for himself. He is currently in Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville, CA awaiting surgery for a threathing infection and moving forward he has a long battle to get his health back to good working condition.
If you love bikes, or have been inspired by riders like Aaron Gwin, Brian Lopes, Jill Kintner, Bryn Atkinson, Todd Wells, please see it in your hearts to help out our friend Monk...because I'm 100% sure he would help you out!
Thank you & Break Yo'self Fool! (One of Monk's notorious quotes)
With over 26 years of wrenching on bikes Chris “Monkey” Vazquez is a legend in the pro mountain bike circuit. With an envious resume of multiple world championship titles from legendary cyclist he wrenched for: Giove, Lopes, Gwin, Kintner, to name a few.
The generous out pouring of support he received via this GoFund page not only helped him get on his feet financially but more importantly the love he felt fed his soul. Today Monk decided to shed his burdening health and do a wheelie in heaven.
Chris "Monk Dawg" Vasquez got his wings today, his kind soul will be missed but never forgotten.
Monk you will always have a corner of my heart with your name on it! Thank you & be free.
"Monk Dawg here to give you all a bit of an update on how I'm doing on the most part I feel good and some other days I just want to give it up but I start thinking about all the people pulling for me to get back out there and do what I love. Looks like Monk gets to go home from the Hospital tomorrow. This is where the hard work will start, we need to get him on a a healthy nutritional program, loose some weight to manage his health better and reprogram some bad habits that have been around for a long time. A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone you has donated & cared enough about Monk to get involved. He says he is ready to make the necessary changes! Here we go.
Spoke to Monk today the surgery went well but they want to keep him in the hospital for observation. He is ever so grateful for all the support, kind words & donations everyone has so generously blessed him with. He knows he has some hard work to do, but says he wants to do it! I told him he can't make me look bad (he laughed) and agreed!
Most grateful PLo
