Thank you for all the donations, I have spoke with John, he’s overwhelmed with the positive comments from people in the same industry as him who know how hard it can be. The Sun unfortunately took a viral joke out of context and wanted to create a more viral headline now many people believed he was paid, when himself and many other co-workers haven’t been even now. I’ve been told that the ground worker boss has now fled completely owing money. I am unable to confirm this point but REAL co-workers have stated this. I have chatted with family of John and when he’s able to he’ll be able to say thank you himself.

This gofundme has been created to help fund the lost wages for the Travel Lodge - Edge Lane Digger Driver who is owed 600 in unpaid wages and primarily any legal fees and expenses which may arise as result of the demolition of the travel lodge.

Many people in the building trade encounter similar situations week in week out and this guy has helped MANY tradesmen and workers to get paid on time and to stand up for themselves when its really needed.

Any money raised here is to be given to the driver to help him primarily with any legal fees and to help the driver cover any expenses which may have arisen. The funds will be given directly to the mini digger driver via gofundme and there support team who have been involved and he will be the sole beneficiary.

I used to work in the building trade here in The Cotswolds and know how the industry can work. I’m working with the media to make contact directly with the driver. It’s amazing to see all the workmen, families and everyone helping chip together to support this guy after he really stood up for himself and his wages.

I have been in touch with Johns family see ‘updates’ for more details.

Firstly I’d like to say thank you for everyone who’s donated to John, from speaking to his family he’s a hard working man who wasn’t given his wages. He’s been having a rough time but got this job last minute.

Himself and his real colleagues (who have spoken to the media about the firm they worked for) all hadn’t been paid, the other guys have now left the firm to start other jobs this morning. Some media outlets have taken a few jokes about the Lloyds banking glitch and ran with it, hidden in between images on The Suns article you’ll be able to read ‘#### are yet to comment about the issue’ they’ve refused to speak to the same media companies who have contacted me. I also didn’t give them permission to use my name and I haven’t spoke with them.

I will keep in touch with Johns family and I hope to speak to him at the end of the week. I will hopefully get the chance to meet him in person soon and post some pictures, I’ve been in contact with gofundme and John will be the silent beneficiary of all the money raised. Behind the scenes John deserves huge respect and he’s a real gent who has stuck up for himself, his income and many in the building industry.

Thank you everyone!

Thank you for all the donations and helping us to reach our goal of £600. We’ll now be tracking down who we believe to be ‘John’ and making sure we definitely have the right guy! The computer glitch comments are just silly and we haven’t taken any notice, this was a joke that went viral just as the video did. This is a contractor vs worker situation and guess who usually comes out on top with huge payouts and the worker going short? Not this time.
