We are the National Capital chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (NCAAZK), a non-profit organization whose members are dedicated to quality animal husbandry, the diffusion of knowledge within the profession and have a true passion for conservation.
In August 2017 our chapter will host the National AAZK Conference for the first time in history. We will host for 400 zoo professionals from around the world for five action-packed days of talks, workshops, and posters by zookeepers, volunteers, and other affiliated staff on the theme “Keepers United in Saving Species.” We are so excited to share the Washington, DC region and our zoo with our colleagues!
NCAAZK has the ambitious goal of raising $20,000 by April to host an opening night event for our conference at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD. Networking events like this event provide delegates with an important opportunity to meet colleagues, share ideas and best practices, and problem solve together, all while touring another animal care facility. Your generous support will help us to cover expenses including travel to and from Baltimore, catering, and after-hour costs at the Aquarium. Keepers often fund their own conference travel, and we want to ensure that all 400 participants can attend the opening night event.
