UNG Cadet hit by drunk driver while on motorcycle

On February 12, 2019 around 9 AM, a dear friend, fraternity brother, and future US Army officer Benjamin Bruner was on his motorcycle going down Ben Higgins road in Dahlonega, GA. There was a drunk driver, yes at 9 AM on a Tuesday, who was not paying attention to the road as he was backing out of his driveway. The drunk driver backed up into Ben's way and although he attempted to avoid the truck, it clipped his motorcycle, totaling it and sending Ben flipping through the air into a ditch.

The drunk driver was arrested and Ben was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He has been in and out of consciousness and numerous surgeries to better his conditions since then. In this accident he destroyed his femur and shattered his kneecap along with other bones. The injuries were also very close to major arteries. On a different note, due to this accident due to this accident it is very likely he will lose ability to commission into the US Army, something he has worked very hard and has been passionate for. 

Ben does not have solid financial backing, nor is he able to rely on family for these circumstances(due to personal situations). With this in mind, I have started this GoFundMe for him in order to help him with medical bills, as well as other expenses. I would ask that anyone who is able to help, would do so in any way possible. As a member of the motorcycle community, I would also ask that we would help a fellow rider and raise awareness about drunk drivers and the dangers of driving while intoxicated within the United States, including our local community.
