Passione, Amore, Espressione, Sacrificio… Sono queste le parole chiave della danza!
Sono Francesco Gallicchio, 14 anni, e grazie all’aiuto di mia madre e mia sorella sono riuscito ad aprire questa pagina da offrire a voi per farmi conoscere realizzando un video.
Ho avuto la possibilità di partecipare ad una rassegna chiamata POP Tap Festival a Danza In Fiera 2017 (Firenze), dove mi è stata assegnata una borsa di studio per andare a New York, alla prestigiosa “Steps Studio” e dove mi si potrebbero aprire numerose opportunità di studio e di crescita. Si tratta di una vacanza studio che associa le lezioni di danza a un corso di inglese regolarmente certificato dalla NYU, la visita a musei e monumenti d'arte e partecipazione musical a teatro. La conquista di questa importante borsa di studio credo sia arrivata grazie alla mia costanza nel coltivare la mia grande passione per la danza e alle attenzioni ricevute da miei insegnanti, Domy, Gigi e Giorgia, che mi hanno seguito con tenacia e incoraggiamento e con sempre più ore di allenamento. La borsa di studio che ho ottenuto consiste in 20 lezioni di danza che possono essere frequentate in diverse prestigiose scuole di New York a libera scelta ma all’interno di un programma complessivo del valore di € 4.700,00 che si svolgerà per un periodo di tre settimane tra fine luglio e inizi agosto 2018. Il costo del pacchetto, oltre a quanto descritto sopra, comprende trasferimenti aerei, assicurazione, vitto e alloggio all’interno di una struttura universitaria. La Tap Dance, meglio conosciuta in Italia come Tip-Tap, è, tra le discipline di danza che studio, quella che coltivo con maggiore passione fin dall’età di 5 anni. Con la danza sto vivendo esperienze importanti che costano impegno, sacrificio e, a volte, delusioni difficili da accettare ma che mi hanno riempito la vita anche di alcune prestigiose conquiste. Ad esempio, ho ottenuto il titolo di Campione Italiano di Categoria, la medaglia di bronzo ai Campionati Europei a giugno 2017 alla mia prima partecipazione, un ruolo da protagonista all'ultimo spettacolo della mia scuola e la convocazione dalla federazione nazionale italiana danza sportiva al Campionato del Mondo! Non potete immaginare quanto rende orgogliosi portare la bandiera e rappresentare il proprio Paese in un contesto così importante dove, oltre alla competizione che alza l'adrenalina in modo indescrivibile, consente la conoscenza di atleti di ogni parte del mondo che condividono la stessa passione arrivando ad allacciare relazioni che sono rimaste anche dopo il rientro a casa! Il tempo che dedico alla danza con le sue ore quotidiane di allenamento non pregiudica l’impegno scolastico che resta tra le priorità. Cerco di organizzarmi al meglio per conciliare bene le due cose tanto è vero che anche in ambito scolastico raggiungo risultati molto positivi. Questo dimostra che la forza di volontà può veramente tutto e credo di poter anche dire che questa mia attività sportiva, (perché la danza è sport contrariamente a quanto spesso si pensa ancora), favorisce anche la mia crescita personale e intellettuale. Purtroppo, per la mia famiglia, l’iscrizione a questo programma comporterebbe uno sforzo economico troppo elevato e, quindi, da non poter prendere in considerazione. In casa siamo in tre, lavora solo mia madre, le esigenze sono numerose e continue e già le spese attuali per la danza costituiscono una quota non da poco. Infatti, a livello agonistico, tutto deve essere autofinanziato, dalle lezioni a scuola, (questo ovvio), ma anche abbigliamento, accessori, scarpe (da tap parecchio costose), quote di iscrizione per le varie competizioni, viaggi, trasferimenti e spese alberghi. Vivere questa esperienza a New York mi darebbe l’opportunità di avvicinarmi contemporaneamente a diverse attività artistiche legate al mondo della danza che potrebbero riempire le mie attuali conoscenze e darmi la possibilità di dare uno sguardo verso quella che potrebbe essere la mia scelta di vita futura.
Il progetto è consultabile ricercando sul sito di "I love New York dancing 2018" e prevede una quota di iscrizione del 30% che deve avvenire entro il 24 marzo 2018 e il saldo entro il 25 maggio 2018.

I had the opportunity to participate in a review called POP Tap Festival at Danza In Fiera 2017 (Florence), where I was awarded a scholarship to go to New York, to the prestigious "Steps Studio" and where I could open many opportunities for study and growth. This is a study holiday that combines dance lessons with a regularly certified English course at NYU, a visit to museums and monuments of art and musical participation in the theater. The conquest of this important scholarship I think has arrived thanks to my constancy in cultivating my great passion for dance and the attention received from my teachers, Domy, Gigi and Giorgia, who followed me with tenacity and encouragement and with more and more hours of training. The scholarship I obtained consists of 20 dance lessons that can be attended in several prestigious schools in New York by free choice but within a total program worth € 4,700.00 which will run for a period of three weeks between the end of July and the beginning of August 2018. The cost of the package, in addition to the above, includes air travel, insurance, board and lodging within a university structure. The Tap Dance, better known in Italy as Tip-Tap, is one of the dance disciplines that I study, the one I cultivate with the greatest passion since the age of 5 years. With the dance I am living important experiences that cost commitment, sacrifice and, sometimes, disappointments difficult to accept but that have also filled my life with some prestigious achievements. For example, I obtained the title of Italian Category Champion, the bronze medal at the European Championships in June 2017 at my first participation, a leading role at the last show of my school and the convocation from the Italian national federation sports dance to the Championship of the world! You can not imagine how proud it is to bring the flag and represent your country in such an important context where, in addition to the competition that raises the adrenaline indescribable, allows the knowledge of athletes from all over the world who share the same passion coming to to establish relationships that have remained even after returning home! The time I dedicate to dance with its daily training hours does not affect the schooling that remains among the priorities. I try to organize myself as best as possible to reconcile the two things so much so that even in the school context I achieve very positive results. This shows that willpower can really everything and I think I can also say that my sport, (because dance is sport contrary to what is often thought of), also favors my personal and intellectual growth. Unfortunately, for my family, enrollment in this program would result in an economic effort that is too high and therefore can not be taken into consideration. At home there are three of us, only my mother works, the needs are numerous and continuous and already the current expenses for dance are a not a small amount. In fact, at the competitive level, everything must be self-financed, from lessons to school, (this is obvious), but also clothing, accessories, shoes (very expensive tap), registration fees for various competitions, travel, transfers and hotel expenses. Living this experience in New York would give me the opportunity to simultaneously approach different artistic activities related to the world of dance that could fill my current knowledge and give me the opportunity to take a look at what could be my choice of future life.
