Hi, my name is Justin and I am helping my parents with an incident that happened to a foster dog they recently adopted. My parents Sal and Bev are the biggest lover of dogs. They have had 2 poodles for the past 14 years. Buddy and Mindy. Mindy was the mother of Buddy, who past away last fall at the age of 14. This summer, my parents who are in thier 70's, wanted to adopt a poodle in need of a home. A 3 year old dog named Henry was in need of a home and my folks felt compelled to provide this young pup a place on our family farm. Henry came from Rochester, NY and seemed to be a good fit with Buddy and the free range lifestyle on our small family farm. He was a foster at first and arrived mid summer. After a month of having him, my folks couldn't let him go, so they adopted him. He is full of energy and love and fit right in.
In October Henry, was running through the yard and may have caugh the attention of a small animal and ran into the road to be hit by a car, that just kept driving away. We heard the yelping and saw Henry running with his front leg in the air. he was bleeding and we rushed him to the vet immediatly. He ended up having a multiple break in his leg and an infection. The vet said we can put it in a cast and hope it will heal. after nearly three months in the cast, they did x-rays to see how the healing process was doing, and unfortunaly it isnt healing... The vet said he will need surgery to reconstruct the leg. My parents who are both on a fixed income, retired, and my father a disabled vietnam veteran, have already spent over $5,000 thus far on Henry's ingury. The vet stated the surgery will cost close to $15,000. I am factoring an additional $5000 for after care and other incidentals. I throught it would be a good idea to reach out to the beautiful and caring people on this site, to see if they can help out with the expenses. We appraciate you all and what ever you may be able to give. We would like to get Henry running again. Much Love to you all.
