Barb Dixon/Dodge, Our mother and wife was diagnosed with lung cancer she was not a smoker at the time, in fact she challenged herself 11 years ago to quit, worried that she may not be able to watch her children grow up if she continued to let smoking rule her life. The news that she had lung cancer came as a surprise to all of us.
Today she had undergone surgery to remove 2/3 of her right lung. But during surgery they found they had to remove her entire lung.
Barb has been a substitute teacher for 15+years and has had to take leave without pay from work to attend appointments and surgery to remove her lung. Because of her position at work she was without medical insurance and does not qualify for long term or short term disability and to add to the financial strain, her husband is currently laid off work.
She now needs to start a long hard road to recovery which will take months, along with future doctors appointments and the expense that comes with.
We are asking for your help so that her recovery can be peacefull rather than full of stress and worry Trying to make ends meet.
