The University of Central Florida’s Police Department employs both Narcotics Detection and Explosive Detection K-9 Teams to ensure the safety of the University Community. The Department K-9’s are also fully trained to apprehend fleeing felony suspects. The average cost and time to train a “green dog” is about $9,000 with 480 hours of training alongside a patrol officer. Additional training for Explosive and Narcotics Detection trained K-9’s can add another 120 hours of training and approximately $1,200 worth of equipment.
Two years ago, the Beta Lambda chapter of Delta Delta Delta helped raise money for a new UCF Police Department K-9. The department has reached out to us again to help raise money for another dog as the K-9 department continues to grow. We have teamed up with Sigma Chi to organize a fundraiser that includes lunch and a kickball tournament. With your help we can reach our goal of $5,000 to help reduce the cost of a new K-9! Please donate to this great cause, anything helps! Thank you!
