Rio 2016 Olympics

I started throwing my junior year of high school throwing 201' in my first year and followed with 208' my senior year with minimal specific coaching. I decided to continue this new sports journey at the last minute signing with North Dakota State University mid summer before my freshman year.
The first year I was able to compete in a national meet, due to D2 to D1 transition period, I had a complete tear of my UCL in my first meet of the year thus ending my collegiate career without an opportunity to throw for an NCAA national title.
I returned to competition one year post surgery throwing with pain but still wasn't satisfied with giving it up quite yet. I continued to train and volunteer coach at NDSU for another year until my current coach arrived and changed this "hobby" into a possible career.
Justin St Clair has formed me into the javelin thrower I am today. In his first year of training I qualified for the 2012 US Olympic Trials placing 17th. In my second year I entered 2013 US Championships in 14th with a season best mark of 73 meters (243') and finishing out the meet with 4 consecutive PR's ending with 83.50 meters (273' 11"), a 1st place title, and my first World Championships team qualifying by distance right on the dot. 2014 Was an up and down season battling injuries and continuous fine tuning of technique and training. I ended the season with my best distance 79.27m (260' 1") and a 2nd place at US Championships. 2015 has been my most consistant year at a high level with most meets at 79-81m. I placed 5th in my first Diamond League meet, 2nd at US Championships, 2nd at Pan Am Games, and 1st at NACAC area games earning a spot on my second World Championships team in Beijing!
Theses funds will be going towards many things but mainly travel funds for myself as well as getting my coach to major meets in the upcoming year. Funding will cover training gear such as javelins, weights, training apparel to help compete at the top level. I will continue to teach half-time at Cheney Middle School in West Fargo while volunteer coaching at NDSU on my way to reaching my goal of the 2016 Olympics
