Prayers for Gia

Donation protected

Hello everyone! My name is Dana Mason and I am asking for a small
Donation to help support the Lesselroth family.

Here is Gias story from the beggining...

So here is my story: My name is Gianna for anyone that doesn’t know me yet and i’m 19 weeks old. I was born on July 26th, 2012 in Sarasota, FL. I was 7 pounds 4 ounces and 20 inches long. I have one brother who is 28 months older then me.

On Sunday December 16th 2012 i was diagnosed with Pre B Infantile Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), MLL gene rearrangement. This is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Although ALL is the most common type of cancer in children, ALL in children under the age of 1 is rare.

80% of Infants that have ALL, have the MLL gene rearrangement Having this gene rearrangement has been shown to have a poorer response to conventional ALL treatments. Luckily over the last few years there has been significant changes made to the protocols and they are finding that infants are responding better. With all my strength and courage and the help of your prayers i’m sure i will prove these statistics wrong.

So the doctors have told my mommy and daddy that they are not sure when or how i got this cancer but that i probably had it in utero (while in mommy’s belly). My whole life i have done things to show mommy and daddy i’m not really comfortable and happy. Mommy and daddy did their best by taking me to doctors to try and figure out the problem but no one picked up on it. They kept telling them it was Colic and reflux. Well now i’m getting the help I need and i’m getting better every day. My doctors here are great so far helping mommy and daddy understand the best they can about whats going on inside of me.

I’m doing my best to keep in good spirits. I do a lot of smiling and love to go for walks and socialize with all the nurses. I even do a bit of flirting with the cute male nurses when daddy’s not looking. Everyone here seems to adore me so that keeps me pretty happy for the most part.

I’m one tough cookie and as cute as a button so keep praying for me because i’m going to beat this Leukemia and grow up to do amazing things!

For the past 2 1/2 years Marissa and Mike have been Gia's best advocate. They have spent most of thier time in the hospital getting chemo treatment, keeping thier baby comfortable from all the side effects, and surgery after surgery. The list goes on.
With thier hard work and dedication, Gia beat cancer!!! They had thier little girl back! They gave her as much as a normal life as they could, even with her compromised immune system from treatment.

Sadly, on Monday, May 11th, our little fighter recived some bad news. Her cancer is back. I know she will kick cancers butt again! She did it at 4 months old, she can do with flying colors this time!

I know Marissa and Mike would never ask for help from anyone, but I am. I have been with them for this whole ride. There are so many cost that go into this that you can't even imagine!

Let's do all we can to help this family get Gia cancer free again!! Thank you!
