A new word was introduced to my vocabulary.
metastasis: The spread of cancer cells from the place where they first formed to another part of the body. In metastasis, cancer cells break away from the original (primary) tumor, travel through the blood or lymph system, and form a new tumor in other organs or tissues of the body.
Sunday, July 7th 2018 I was driving home to my parents house when I found out that my sweet grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer, and it had metastasized to her brain.
My my initial thoughts were: I just saw her. Healthy, laughing, enjoying the family on the Fourth of July eating one of my dads famous burgers. Healthy. Why is she in the hospital? What happened? Is she hurting? Why didn’t anyone tell me she was even at the hospital? Do my sisters know? Where is my dad? What happens now?...
hours later, I was watching my emotionally strong father’s lip quiver as he explain to my grandmother (who was still in the dark about her condition) without saying the word, that she would have to be strong these next few months and keep faith that our merciful God will answer our prayers.
My grandmas silent tears broke our hearts, but we know that she is strong and she can and will beat this.
I know Facebook allows you to select a charity of your choosing for birthdays- and for my birthday July 29th
My goal is to help our family raise funds for my grandmas chemotherapy and medical bills.
