Hello friends and family,
As you know, these floods have affected many of us in the past 24 hours. It is with great regret that must include myself amongst the victims of this tragedy.
Early in the morning of October 4th, in a matter of minutes, the little bit of water in our yard rose up to waist-high levels and was only getting higher. In what little time we had to evacuate, I managed to pack a change of clothes and grab my phone. We waded through over waist high waters to safety just as water began entering the home.
It pains me to say that the worst occured after we left our home, as I was informed early the following morning that the water had reached the roof our home, completely submerging all of our possessions. We managed to move our cars away from the house, but I have yet to know the fate of my car.
Everything I own was in that house. Every possession I have purchased in the past 5 years is now gone. I didn't have "some" of my possessions there, I had "all" of my possessions. This includes:
- Every article of clothing but what's on my back
- My bed
- My furniture
- All of my college textbooks
- 100s of pages of college notes that I have saved over the years as reference.
- Every electronic device and piece of equiment I owned.
I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring love and support from all of my friends and family, I do not want to know where I would be without each and every one of you.
So, my friends, I need your help. Every little bit will go a long way to helping me salvage this semester and even more importantly, my livelihood. Thank you.
