Mark is 38 and has two beautiful daughters. He was diagnosed in 2011 with lung cancer, more specifically - non small cell lung cancer. Since then Mark has had one lung removed and a gruelling amount of chemotherapy. At the end of 2011 he was given the all clear. In 2012 we were devastated to find out that Marks cancer had returned in his remaining lung. He’s since gone through huge amounts of horrendous chemotherapy but we are now at a point where the only option going forward is a drug called Nivolumab. This is a revolutionary immune therapy treatment that the NHS currently won’t fund, however a company called Bristol Myers Squibb have been doing clinical trials with outstanding results. This could help Mark get his life back and let his Girls keep their Daddy. I am asking all of you to please please take the time to donate, even if it's just £1 to contribute to the huge expense of this treatment. For five minutes of your time and what you would spend on a cup of coffee you could potentially help this Daddy fight this horrendous cancer and have as much time as possible with his children.

With regard to the target. It's hard to know how much will be needed in total. Each round of treatment costs £8000 and it's unknown how many rounds will be needed.  Thus the huge 'target amount' stated above.

Mark's family have asked me to let you know that Mark sadly passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning. They would like to extend their thanks to all those who were kind enough to donate to his treatment fund. It gave Mark such hope and focus at a time when he really needed it. Sadly it couldn't beat this cruelest of diseases. Once all outstanding treatment fees are paid they would like to split the remaining funds between the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and a trust fund for the two beautiful daughters he leaves behind. Once again thanks to all who donated - your kindness will never be forgotten.

I'm sure you've most probably tried this, but have you contacted cancer research to ask whether you are able to take part in 'CheckMate032, a trial of nivolumab and ipilimumab, run by Professor Jeff Evans? The inclusion/exclusion criteria can be confusing, but it may be worth a shot, if you haven't already. Good luck

I'm truly sad to read about the passion of Mark. Hopefully the little bit I donated helped towards the cumulative amount and glad to see that it's being split between a worthwhile charity and his beautiful two daughters that he sadly leaves behind. Heartbreaking.

It would not let me put 20p for the 0.2m of the 26.2 miles of the marathon. :-( WELL DONE, Jackie! You're an inspiration. All Best Wishes to Mark and family.
