<div>This is Jack…or Jack Jack as he’s known to his family and friends.
</div>

<div>In April of 2023, he was like any other curious, boundary pushing three year old. He wanted to be a dolphin when he grew up. He was happiest when playing with his brother Ted, making cups of tea in his kitchen and watching old school Scooby Doo and Smurfs. His favourite colour was yellow.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then he came home with a limp.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Three weeks later, four doctors walked into our room to advise us our baby bear had stage IV cancer. Neuroblastoma.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Whilst Jack had been playing, swimming, sleeping, laughing and giving “huggles”, his nerve cells had failed to mature properly, resulting in a mandarin-sized tumour growing near his adrenal gland and kidney. From there, it spread to his lymph nodes, bone marrow and into his bones, from the top of his beautiful head, down to his toes.

<div>In May 2023 he commenced one of the most gruelling treatment protocols a child can endure: six months in hospital, eight rounds of chemotherapy, an 8-hour surgery, a bone marrow transplant, and 12 rounds of radiation. He has suffered horrible side effects through neuropathy, loss of fine motor skills, reduced eyesight and he will be infertile. Yet throughout it all, he still walked into hospital jauntily singing his favourite tune: "don’t give up, don’t give in, just get up and try again".
</div>

</div>
<div>Heartbreakingly, those became words to live by as Jack relapsed in 2024, and again in 2025.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Each time we “tried again” with a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy that mercifully resolved his cancer quickly and effectively. However, Jack struggles to remain cancer free once he completes treatment (referred to as ‘chronic’ cancer as opposed to a ‘wildfire’ type).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then, in January 2026, on a flight to New York to see his treating team, Jack’s jaw suddenly became swollen and extremely painful. After being rushed in for an MRI upon arrival in NYC, our worst fears were confirmed: Jack has relapsed, for a third time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are unable to return to our home in Sydney and so our family is divided across continents.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Encouragingly, Jack has been accepted into a promising precision based approach to treating the cancer, which is now in his jaw and arm.
</div>
<div>The PEACH trial is a personalised immune-cell therapy trial. It comprises of two key parts:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Molecular Guided Therapy: Using tissue extracted from Jack’s tumour it is compared to FDA approved drugs to determine drugs that would best attack Jack’s cancer head on. These drugs are reviewed by a panel of oncologists and, once agreed upon, are given to Jack in 21 or 28-day cycles.
</div>
<div>Personalised Vaccine:

<div>instead of using a general drug made in a factory, a personalised vaccine is made using Jack’s own immune cells!

<div>Doctors take tumour material and extract the tumour’s mRNA (i.e. the tumour’s instruction manual) and load that mRNA into Jack’s dendritic cells. Dendritic cells are the immune system’s teachers. Their job is to say: “This is the enemy. Learn this”.
</div>
<div>Doctors then collect Jack’s T-cells. In a Florida laboratory, those T-cells are trained using the tumour mRNA information. The T-cells are multiplied and given back to Jack. These are custom-trained immune soldiers, specifically primed against Jack’s unique neuroblastoma.
</div>

<div>The terrifying truth is that with every relapse, Jack’s chances of survival plummet to just 5%. This is not something we can accept. Jack has beaten the odds twice before and he’ll do it again this time!
</div>

<div>On Monday the 9th of October Robbie (an L-plater) and his mother Maggi were driving home on Mona Vale Rd after Robbie's school leadership day (Robbie is vice-captain of NBCS), when a garbage truck crossed onto the wrong side of the road hitting their car and writing it off. Both Robbie and Maggi, who is the sole carer of her 2 children, were taken to hospital - Robbie with a compression fracture and Maggi with multiple neck, thoracic and lumbar fractures.

<div>Their road to recovery will require many additional costs and unexpected expenses such as home support (eg cleaning), a replacement car, medical interventions, etc. Any donations will go to supporting Maggi to cover these costs and will be greatly appreciated.

Helping a Grieving Family In a Time of Need

<div>Never did I imagine we would be trapped here permanently with no freedom or right to return to our family and place of birth in the UK.

<div>After just a month of arriving in Australia, I escaped from family violence and have since (for 6 yrs) been stuck in the family court system trying to get home to my lovely family in the UK.

<div>I couldn't leave Australia as my daughters passports were taken by her father.  The British embassy would not help me.

<div>In November 2021 my worse nightmare was revealed when a judge made orders that I cannot take my now 7 yr old daughter to visit our family in the UK until she is 12 yrs old, and even then I can only travel to the UK (no other country) if I put a $40,000 bond in place. <br /><br />Basically, it makes it impossible for me to ever take my daughter to see our family, or ever leave Australia.<br /><br />Orders were also made without the consideration of my daughters birthday each year - I do not get to celebrate her birthday with her.

The family is a single mum to 4 kids from ages 8-15, and they are all currently sleeping at different friends houses as the house is unable to live in right now. All of their belongings, living room furniture , kitchen wear, etc. has been destroyed by the flood.<br />It would really help to raise this money to help them buy new furniture, and clothes for the children. <strong>The Northern Beaches Secondary College Rowing Club</strong> needs your help to (literally) stay afloat.<br /><br />With your donations, we will buy (and repair) boats, oars, riggers, trailers, tinnies, in fact all the gear that's needed to keep a rowing club on the water.<br /><br />Kieran Kobelke started the club 3 years ago at Bally Boys with the goal of making rowing accessible to all. NBSC Rowing

As our close friends and family would know, my partner Matt and his son and family have been fighting the battle of Gabe's life for the last 2 years when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in July 2016.<br />The tumour was called ATRT (Atypical Rhabdoid Teratoid Tumour) and during surgery to remove as much as the tumour as they could Gabe suffered a stroke. This paralysed the left side of his body leaving him in a wheelchair for his year of chemo and radiation. In August 2017 we received the good news that the battle against Gary the tumour had been won and we could then focus on intensive physiotherapy to regain movement in Gabe's arm and leg. It was tough going for Gabe but he bravely battled on and has been able to get up and walk again and excitedly walked into his first year of high school this year.<br /><br />Since August 2017 he has been going for 3 monthly scans and in December these were all clear. Last week in one of Gabe's 3 monthly scans we received the news that no one would want to hear about their loved one, especially as a parent to your child.  A new tumour had formed in his brain and was also filling up with brain fluid.<br />On Good Friday his surgical team operated on Gabe to debulk this new tumour and now we are waiting on the biopsy results.<br /><br />A lot of our friends and family have been asking what they can do to help and we so appreciate all your support and love.<br /><br />I felt the need to help Matt out and to take stress from him in regards to splitting his time between the much needed time with Gabe and full time work. What started off as a little hearing loss, ended with an unexpected diagnosis. As many of you know, Kristen is a single mom of three amazing children.  For years she’s made them her top priority and has spent the majority of the last 15 years caring for them.  So many have also seen the heart she has for others around her, and now she needs our help.<br /><br />Kristen has been diagnosed with a rare tumor, acoustic neuroma. This is known to be a benign tumor that sits on the lining of the brain. The neurosurgeon called Kristen in, quickly after her MRI, to explain that the tumor is wrapped around her acoustic nerve and is pushing up against her brain stem.  The tumor is large and also has “a” typical or rare characteristics and nodules. This can mean that it’s more of an aggressive type of tumor then originally expected. They will be doing a biopsy during the surgery.  The tumor can cause hearing loss, facial paralysis, speech, balance/walking issues and swallowing difficulty, in conjunction with further symptoms. The tumor will continue to grow if not addressed.<br /><br />Kristen has her final neurosurgical appointment this week and surgery is scheduled for the last week of the March. She will have 2 Neurosurgeons performing the surgery. During the surgical procedure, they plan on going in through the left side of her head, behind her ear, to extract the core of the tumor, in hopes that the remaining part of the tumor collapses on itself. This surgery should take 6 hours.  Kristen will need Radiation to kill the remaining parts of the tumor after she has recovered from the surgery. This will be scheduled post surgery. The timeline for full recovery will also be more clearly determined after surgery but is projected that full recovery may take several months to a year.  Her doctors say that she will lose full hearing in her left ear permanently and it is highly likely suffer temporary facial paralysis for 3 months to 1 year. She may need physical therapy incorporating balance, speech and swallow therapy.<br /><br /> Kristen has positively influenced so many lives. This makes our job easy, as we are simply reaching out to people that know and care about her for support.  She will need assistance on various levels but here is one way her friends and family far and near can help. She will be unable to work for a certain period of time and will need financial support for her mortgage and primary bills.  At this time she is also unsure of the costs she will accrue due to medical treatment, her hospital stay, and therapies needed.  Finally, she will need assistance in caring for herself, initial transportation to appointments, and maintaining her home.<br /><br />Most importantly, she needs your consistent prayers for her doctors, a surgery without complications, limited side affects, and a full recovery. Throughout this entire process. Kristen has reassured us that she knows God is with her, and that she has peace.  She is confident that she will not only survive, but through this experience, grow further as an individual, to in turn, give back to others in the future. <br /><br /> Thank you in advance for any form of support you are able to provide.
