<div>I'm a freelance writer and cartoonist who recently faced a major setback after contracting COVID over the summer. The illness took me out of commission for nearly a month, which led to missed deadlines, lost income, and extra medical expenses. I rely on a steady stream of writing assignments and cartooning projects to support myself, and this has already been a difficult year for that, but this unexpected health challenge made it difficult to keep up with basic expenses and tax debt.

Support My Creative Comeback After COVID

It's safe to say we've all had our struggles as of late, some of us more than others. Pathfinder RPG developer Adam Daigle certainly falls into the latter category. A cascade of tragedies, including the recent death of his mother, stepdad, aunt, and uncle, landed him in the ER far from home late last week, and he's now facing a mountain of medical debt. <br /><br />In late August, Adam and a few friends set out on the long drive across the US to attend a family memorial. Unfortunately, a combination of health and stress landed him not at this sad family event but unconscious in an unfamiliar parking lot, where he suffered a seizure and sustained numerous injuries. Thankfully, maintenance found his battered body, and an ambulance rushed him to the area hospital, where he spent nearly a week between the ER, trauma unit, and recovery. <br /><br />Everyone is incredibly thankful that Adam is now on the mend. Still, as we all know, ambulance rides and nearly a week's stay in the hospital full of cat scans, x-rays, and various other tests cost many thousands of dollars that my friend is not in a position to absorb. Of course, Adam himself would never ask anyone for anything, but I'd like to help him find some sunshine in these dark days by raising funds to help cover at least part of the many expenses he's now facing. <br /><br />Feel free to share your favorite Daigle creation or memory with your donation to remind him of happier times.

<p>My parting from my current home was untimely, but there really is never a good time for such things. We're all still friends, but we have different ways of living, and it's time for us to part ways. Fortunately, I have secured a new place to live that is (mostly) affordable and will allow me to keep my beloved animals.

<p>My expenses these days consist of paying off pandemic-related debt (boo), and paying for school, and I don't have any buffers or savings to speak of. I was laid off from my well-paying job at the start of the pandemic shutdown, and I'm struggling to find work that can pay my bills <em>and</em> is willing to work with my school schedule. While I do have a part-time job and have some supplemental unemployment, it's not enough.

Flying Solo: A New Chapter in Liz's Life

I have been going though a downward financial spiral in recent years, primarily due to unstable employment and rising health insurance costs. I was at rock bottom, with reserves left, when I finally landed a great job that appeared like it may put me back on an upward curve... but six weeks in, I was struck with a massive leg infection that landed me in the hospital for over a week. It will be another two weeks or so of home care before I'll be able to go back to work. I won't be able to work again until July 2, and then there will be a delay before I get a paycheck. <br /><br />In the meantime, I have no money coming in, since I was not yet qualified for sick leave at my job, I have no savings, and less than $200 in the bank. I have no way to making my car payment, paying my bills, or paying my rent going forward. The leg infection has even derailed a tiny secondary source of income I earned through NUELOW Games, as I have not been able to produce anything new.<br /><br />I need money to pay my rent for July and possibly August, my car payment for July and possibly August, my insurance payment for June and July and possibly August, and my utility bills for July and possibly August. I'll also have to figure out food, but I have pasta and some canned goods, so that may be enough.<br /><br />I need about $5,000 to take care of the most urgent items--and I'm not even thinking about what the hospistal stay will end up costing me. That's just too depressing at this point.<br /><br />I really have nothing to offer except graditude for those who choose to lend a hand. Help with my expenses after illness

On October 9th, 2015 around 9PM my dear girlfriend, Xiao Li, was struck by a car while riding as a passenger on her friend's motorbike. Since then she has been in a coma with traumatic brain injury. <br /><br />I did not find out until Sunday. When I did I went to the hospital to see how she was. Sadly she has been unresponsive since the accident. I remain hopeful, but the injuries are very extensive. <br /><br />Today I found out her medical bills are mounting at a surprisingly alarming rate. To make things worse the insurance, as I understand it, is very limited because the driver of motorbike apparently ran a red light and the car driver most likely will bear little responsibility.<br /><br />Xiao Li comes from the city of Yibin, which is located in Sichuan, China. Her family is not very well off and I know this will be financially devistating to them. I am reaching out to the community at large to help try to offset some her medical expenses as well as travel expenses for the family. <br /><br />Under normal circumstances I would never reach out like this, but the expenses, as I understand them, are already over $15,000. Anything would help and most certainly be appreciated. I will make certain that every penny earned from this campaign goes directly to her family. <br /><br />Please join me in saying a prayer for Xiao Li and sending your positive thoughts.
