<div>Haneen is the mother of these two beautiful children. One of them has cerebral palsy.

<div>They live in extremely difficult and harsh conditions in Gaza city.
</div>
<div>I have offered to help this small family by creating this campaign so that Haneen can access food and essentials and whatever she needs to make life just s little bit easier in a time of great challenge. I have felt moved by her resilience, strength and kindness in what must be horrific conditions. As a mother I cannot imagine how hard it must be for her and so many others in Gaza right now.

Help a family in Gaza to access food and essentials for life

<strong>OPIS Summer 2020 Fundraiser</strong><br /><br /><a href="http://www.preventsuffering.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">OPIS</a> is a Swiss-based think-and-do tank dedicated to the prevention of intense suffering of all sentient beings – the most urgent issue there is. We focus on specific sources of intense suffering and on promoting compassionate ethics in decision-making. One of our main projects to date has been promoting access to morphine for terminal cancer patients in lower-income countries. We crowdfunded and co-organised a national conference last year in Burkina Faso with the Health Ministry and our local partner – you can read about it in this new <a href="https://www.medicusmundi.ch/de/bulletin/mms-bulletin/palliative-care/kapitel-1/the-initiative-to-launch-palliative-care-in-burkina-faso" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">article</a> . We are now also focusing on relieving the pain of cluster headaches, one of the most excruciating conditions known to medicine – you can read more about it <a href="https://www.preventsuffering.org/cluster-headaches/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>  and also learn more about our current initiative in this <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbOhVahPNl0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">presentation</a>.<br /><br />A summary of our main projects at the moment:<br /><br /><strong>Cluster “suicide” headaches: relieving the pain of one of the most excruciating</strong><br /><strong>medical conditions</strong><br />- Continue with our initiative in Finland to lobby the government to facilitate access to effective treatments<br />- Work with other countries to change legislation<br />- Write and disseminate a global white paper on treating cluster headaches<br />- Create a comprehensive guide for patients<br /><br /><strong>Access to morphine for terminal cancer patients in lower-income countries</strong><br />- Support efforts by local champions in lower-income countries<br /><br /><strong>Animal abuse: advocating for an end to the torture</strong><br />- Fight <a href="https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/2019/1/11/18176551/ag-gag-laws-factory-farms-explained" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ag-gag</a> laws that prohibit investigations of abuse, in collaboration with partner organisations<br />- Advocate for an end to factory farming and the torture of non-human animals<br /><br /><strong>Ethical governance: putting compassion into decision-making</strong><br /><strong>structures</strong><br />- Write and disseminate a global white paper/manifesto for ethical governance based on preventing suffering<br />- Workshops and new initiatives for ethical, participatory decision-making<br /><br />You can read more details about these activities and others in our <a href="https://mailchi.mp/cd42fbb6db11/opis-july-2020" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">July 2020 newsletter</a>.<br /><br /><br />We are dependent on private donations to run our projects and are very grateful for your support.
