<div>We’re here to raise funds for the family of Elaine Mandanici, 37 years old. A loving mother of Elisa (6), and Melina (5), wife (Rino), daughter, sister and friend to many. Elaine had the most devastating shock of her life. In April 2022, Elaine was diagnosed with stage 2, triple negative breast cancer, the most aggressive type. From the moment she was diagnosed, she maintained a positive outlook and attitude and continued to enjoy all moments of life while maintaining normalcy and prioritizing her children’s wellbeing.

<div>Over the course of the last 1.5 years, she has faced 3 rounds of treatment including chemo, radiation and even a trial treatment which she was told would be her “golden ticket” to recovery. She underwent a mastectomy and also had over 15 lymph nodes removed.

<div>She celebrated remission in July of 2023 to be faced with the most devastating news 2 months later… Elaine had been having back pain since August and was it was confirmed in late September to have metastasized to the vertebrae. From August to end of September, she dealt with extensive pain, even more than during treatment, as the cancer had compressed her vertebrae causing a fracture to her spine. Barely mobile, she continued to be optimistic as she waited for more tests. Three weeks ago, before she could make it to her doctors appointment, Elaine was rushed by ambulance to the ER due to the level of unbearable pain.

<div>In the last few weeks spent at the hospital, Elaine has moved from the ER to Internal Medicine and Oncology. Elaine and her family were told that her disease quickly progressed to other parts of her bones and organs. She was told she had incurable, stage 4 cancer. The last attempt made by doctors at elongating her life was a new type of treatment. She completed one round while hospitalized. Last Friday, marked a turning point for Elaine. She had 3 seizures and was admitted to ICU. Today, family and friends were told there is no longer anything that can be done… Heartbreak and devastation are words not even close to describing how everyone around her feels. Not to mention how her girls will feel when Rino will have the toughest conversation of his life. Telling his kids that they need to say “goodbye” to mommy and “I love you” for one last time….

<div>Throughout all this, Rino has been spending all of his time by Elaine’s side while continuing to be there for his kids. Though family and friends have been able to help, it’s nothing in comparison to the support he and the children will need in the coming months.

For those who know Elaine, her smile, laughter, humor, and one of a kind personality will never be forgotten. Help Elaine & family get through the unthinkable

Bethany is in a fight for her life. <br /><br />We have made it our mission to fight right along with her.<br /><br />Bethany was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disease; MITOCHONDRIAL DISEASE and more specifically in her case ADULT ONSET LEIGH’S DISEASE. This is a degenerative disease for which very little is known and for which there is no cure. <br /><br />Bethany has been hospitalized since the middle of January. She is at the Montreal Neurological Institute. She is currently on a ventilator, and fighting to regain some motor function. She continues to work very hard, however her options are very limited.<br /><br />Another part of Bethany’s treatment plan includes a type of ‘Mito Cocktail’ that includes vitamins and supplements  that must be imported by her parents from the United States as it is not available in Canada. <br /><br />We need your support in spreading awareness that these devastating diseases exist so that research can be done in order to find adequate treatment and ultimately a CURE.<br /><br />Our hope is that Bethany will be a candidate for a clinical trial that may be the miracle we are hoping for.  These trials are usually very expensive and should one become available, we will need to act fast.  This is why we are asking for your support in the form of a donation.<br /><br />We hope that someone, somewhere will have an answer.<br /><br />Please also join the  “Mitochondrial Wallis” facebook page. <strong>Thank you to everyone who has donated, and shared this gofundme! All the money ($19,981.46 after the gofundme electronic transfer fees) has been deposited and given to Ganesh. There was also an anonymous donor who gave $500 and that has been received by Ganesh as well. Thank you also to the team who organized and created this event! Once again, thank you, everyone!</strong><br /><br />I had heard about people becoming victims of fake callers before. However, the news of it happening to Ganesh Khatry, who is also known to my parents, came as a shock to me. He was scammed $8290, after receiving multiple calls from people who posed as police to warn that his SIN card had been compromised and multiple bank accounts have been created by someone else. <br /><br /><strong>He is left with only $9 in his bank account.</strong><br /><br />Ganesh uncle immigrated from Nepal a few years ago to Canada. While navigating his new environment, he was able to secure a job working as a Walmart employee, where he took a night shift and worked day and night to survive and continued to live his life in Canada. On October 1, he got a call that stated that the caller was from Brampton Police.<br /><br />Ganesh uncle says he was called in the middle of his work and was told that his SIN card number and bank accounts have been hacked. As a new immigrant, he was worried that he might lose all his savings in the bank and asked several times if he would talk to his friend who was with him at that time but the caller said since there was fraud against both his bank accounts and SIN card, he should not be talking to anyone because it might not be safe for him. <br /><br />The caller also told him that his card had been used to open multiple bank accounts and the funds had been used for drug trafficking and money laundering. The caller told Ganesh to leave the place without talking to anyone as it is not “safe to do”. The caller then asked Ganesh to withdraw all his funds from his bank accounts. He was then told to deposit his money in a Bitcoin machine, where it would be “safeguarded” until he received a new SIN card the following day. When he called the number, no one picked up.<br /><br /><strong>He then realized he was a victim of a scam.</strong> <br /><br />The next day he contacted Brampton Police and filed a report with Peel police but it's already too late by that time. Without his savings and no job, he is now forced to live with support from his friends. Being far from any immediate family and home, he is depressed and anxious to be able to support himself. Anything can help to get him back on his feet again.

We are reaching out as we have a friend that is struggling and living a very difficult life. This close friend has been struggling with cancer and lost her husband seven months ago. She has 2 children in her care. Some of you might know who she is and some of you might not. Please believe me that we have set up this page because this person is in a very difficult situation and deserves our help. She has been served with a debt that was left from her late husband that will cause her and her children to lose their home. Disparition d'Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou

Hello.<br /><br />As most of you have probably heard by now there was a terrible fire in West Bolton, Quebec, Canada last night. The building was the rented residence of the mother and sister of our dear friend Rusty James.  Their home burnt to the ground and they have lost everything.  <br /><br />Unfortunately Rusty's mother suffered smoke inhalation and because she underwent heart surgery 9 days ago the doctors have had to induce her into a coma to prevent coughing which would damage the stitches she has from surgery.<br /><br />I have spoken to Rusty several times since yesterday and he needs our help. Clothing and household items will be needed but he respectfully asks that donations of the sort are held off on for the time being as he has not had a chance to address what the immediate needs are and he doesn't currently  have anywhere to store them.<br /><br />Funds are being withdrawn by Rusty himself so his mother and sister can purchase household items, food, clothing, furniture and more that they need to set up their new home. <br /><br />Thank you for your generosity in this very difficult time for their family.
