2 March 2022<br /><br />I moved to Northern Ireland from Ukraine over 25 years ago. I was warmly welcomed in my adoptive country. I have raised three children here. Having been privileged to have two places to call home I am keenly aware of how many people are losing their homes in Ukraine.<br /><br />In a couple of days my husband and I are travelling to Odessa to stay with my elderly mother. My heart breaks when I hear that the beautiful harbour where I walked as a child is being bombed and those with whom I grew up with are building defences.<br /><br />I ask you to join with me in prayer for the courageous people of Ukraine. I also ask you for some practical help to raise funds for the Red Cross in Ukraine. Iryna's Red Cross Fund for Ukraine

<p>Hi, My names Scott and I will be walking with friend my Derek from Abacas Special School in Kilbarrack Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare. We are starting at 4am Sunday the 27th of June and hope to reach our destination sometime on Friday with getting our head down each evening in different hotels that we are funding ourselves. This isn’t being done virtually it’s gonna be two lads out on an adventure trying to raise much needed funds for my cousin Lucas’s school in Kilbarrack. I know the amazing work they do each time I see Lucas in his progression. This school is amazing and I wanted to say thank you for the support they have given him and my aunty and uncle. I’m going to blog the trip and I will make a Facebook page so people can keep track us and see the journey as we are seeing it. If you see us along the way give us a beep and more importantly give some much needed funds to a much needed cause and please share this all around Ireland. I have added a picture of Lucas below. Walk to the Cliffs of Moher for Abacas and Lucas

<p>For many  years the Parents Association and students at Loreto have supported the charity Aoibhneas Women’s Refuge each year with fundraising by hosting a coffee morning and by collecting and distributing packs of essential items for the women and children using their services.  The impact of the Covid 19 pandemic has been felt by many, but this year more than ever Aoibhneas is working hard to support the women and children experiencing domestic abuse endured during lockdown.  Covid 19 also means that things are very different in how we carry out fundraising, and the needs that charities like Aoibhneas have.  For this reason, the Parents Association has changed the approach to fundraising to ensure the help we are supplying is most relevant to the charity and the means in which it is carried out makes it simple for everyone to get involved, within Government guidelines. <br />This year, what is most important to Aoibhneas is to financially empower the women who use their services by giving them vouchers that can be used online so that they can individually decide what they want and need to buy for their children in the run up to Christmas.  The concept while simple, carries significant meaning for women who have not had the financial freedom or means to exercise choice over what they buy for their family.<br /><br />The Parents Association will be fundraising <br />by using GoFundMe cash donations to purchase individual vouchers for Aoibhneas families:  Aoibhneas aim to give the each family a voucher to the value of €25. However,  donations of any amount are welcome.

Aoibhneas Christmas Appeal

Chloe’s hair has been her pride &amp; joy since forever!! She has refused more than a trim for years....that was until she saw the movie Wish Man recently and wanted to make a difference &amp; contribute in some way. She was truly inspired and now wants to cut her hair, give it to make a wig for children living with cancer (Rapunzel Charity) &amp; raise money for Make a Wish Foundation at the same time. As her parents we are so so proud of her ❤️❤️❤️
