<div>I recently moved to Palm Bay, Florida from New York City. It took me over a year to make this decision and I was very hesitant to leave my home, friends, and a city that I love. But more importantly, <strong>I had to give up my cancer care and treatment at MSK Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where I was being cared for over seven years.</strong>

<div>I am living with my brother and sister-in-law. Palm Bay is very different from NYC. It's rural, remote, and not much happening here. Before I moved, I thought I had found a cancer facility here that would be suitable for treating my cancer. I have had cancer since 2014 and it is chronic and recurrent.

<div>Once I got here, I immediately applied for Florida Medicaid and followed up with Health First Medical Group. For a month, I followed up with Medicaid and Health First. Each experience was worse than the previous one. No one offered me the kind of support I was expecting. I was very disappointed and after waiting a whole month, both situations did not turn out in my favor.

<div><strong>I am making every effort to find alternative options which means flying back to New York to continue treatment for several months, while pursuing better options in Florida.</strong>

<div>I am still supporting myself and even though my rent and utilities are covered by my brother, I pay for all my food and other miscellaneous expenses, including transportation. I barely have enough to cover that and the lump sum amount from the family I worked for in NY is almost depleted. I knew I would have a hard time with that.

<div>Another major obstacle living here is not owning a car or knowing how to drive. It isn't a place to be without a car, so I rely on the local buses and Lyft, which is costly. This isn't a place to be without a car or not know how to drive. It is mandatory.

<div>In order to save my life, <strong>I am convinced that I must go back to NY and receive another treatment at MSK as soon as possible.</strong> I do not have enough funds to cover airfare, accommodations, and expenses to stay for any length of time.

<div>My medical expenses are fully covered by Medicare and NY Medicaid. I have no Medicaid coverage in Florida and would have to pay the twenty percent on my own if I had treatment here. That could be resolved with time, but it is now critical that I have immediate care.

<div>Even if I did get approval to stay at the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, I would still be responsible for airfare and food expenses. I am working with my social worker and medical team to see how I could qualify. They have very strict rules and because I haven't had treatment in over three months, I may not qualify.

<div>I am feeling good and optimistic that things can still turn around and I will be able to continue treatments and a renewed joy of living life to the fullest. To do so, I need your help. Please consider the circumstance. Your support in any way means a lot to me.
