<div>My name is Dalila, Caleb’s mom. Many of you already know that he was involved in a serious car accident on 6/24. Caleb’s progress has been such a testimony of the Lord’s faithfulness and we’re sharing as we have new hurdles to overcome.

<div>He arrived to JPS unresponsive , global TBI(traumatic brain injury), multiple face fractures including a dislocated and fractured lower jaw, a fractured rib and bruised lung, a shifted and fractured pelvis, a pierced artery, a broken tibia and multiple deep cuts and burns.

<div>And upon arrival, he was hemorrhaging from his brain and bleeding out from an artery so he underwent emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. Because of the severity of his condition and injuries, he was put in a medically induced coma to help prevent overstimulation and additional hemorrhaging.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the next several days- the pressure in his brain doubled due to its swelling. The doctors assumed he would have additional damages, but after a new cat scan, the brain showed no changes to prior scan!
</div>
<div>The Lord protected him through that!!
</div>

<div>After a few days, they expected him to wake up. But Caleb was not progressing as expected. He was on max life support, pupils were not reactive, his kidneys were not working properly and his left lung developed severe pneumonia. The doctor discussed the plan to test his brain activity to rule out brain death and prepared us for the worst… but GOD!!!

<div>In a couple hours, Caleb’s kidneys started to work and his eye pupils became reactive! The test was canceled! They decided to give him more time, and that week, his oxygen levels would decline throughout the day while also undergoing multiple procedures and surgeries. He was fighting for his life!

<div>Now, after 3 weeks at ICU, Caleb was removed from life support and moved one step down from ICU. Only God could do this!!!
</div>

<div>We are now preparing him for transfer to a Long Term Care Acute Hospital for brain injuries to begin inpatient rehabilitation. The case worker came across multiple issues to get him in a local facility that would specialize in his current condition because he is a pediatric patient, not providing voluntary movement and is in a Minimally conscious state.

<div>Caleb is currently waiting on acceptance from a Hospital in Houston that specializes with pediatric TBI patients.
</div>

<div>Unfortunately, we quickly learned the cost to transport and continue care for Caleb at the facility is beyond our means alone and our insurance provider does not cover transport through MedStar, the only transporting service able to travel to Houston.
</div>

</div>
<div>As a nearly fatal accident, we are so grateful to God that we have him with us today and we know He will find a way. Caleb has always been that funny kid, easy to talk to, stubborn and independent, artistic and always ready to give a helping hand when in need.
</div>

He is a social butterfly and loves being around people and going places.  He is 13 years old and was  a micro preemie born at only 24 weeks and weighed 1 lb 10oz. Bishope's diagnoses are spastic cerebral palsy, visual impairement, cyclical vomiting syndrome , and scoliosis. He also has a hydrocephalus VP shunt and has been a manual wheelchair user for 10 years. All 10 years I have had to not only transfer him (currently 80 lbs) into our vehicle but also lift his wheelchair up and into our vehicle. After years of refusing to even discuss a power wheelchair, it has come time to embrace the future.  Bishope is a teenager now and growing bigger and stronger. I am learning to give him his independence so his power chair will be delivered within the next few weeks. <br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/4097898_fb_1428540323.3868_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />Please meet my beautiful mother Alma. She turned 63 years old this year. She has had a rough few years. About 5 years ago, she began experiencing frequent dizziness and started having unexplainable falls and trouble with word finding. Then came short term memory loss and she started to use a cane to help with her balance. Her PCP and neurologist ran test after test, but they were only able to diagnose with mild cognitive impairment. 2014 was really bad! She had scrapes and bruises every where from falls. She went from the cane to a walker. She had a severe fall in September of 2014 and shattered her right shoulder. She is currently in a wheelchair. After changing her PCP and consulting with a movement disorder specialist, we finally have a diagnosis: Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. It is a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no known cause, treatment or cure. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/4097898_fb_1428555449.8842_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Please let me introduce myself. My name is Anita. I am a single mom, full time caretaker of my son Bishope, and part time caretaker of my mom. Here is where I swallow my pride and ask for help. My car can not be modified to adapt to their growing needs. As Bishope grows bigger and more independent, my  Mom is losing her independence. It is heartbreaking. In order to be able to continue to give them the care they need, transport them to doctor visits and therapy, give Bishope the socialization he loves, and keep mom safe and comfortable, we need your help getting a wheelchair accessible van that will accommodate 2 wheelchairs.
