<div>I am a survivor of domestic abuse, having endured two back-to-back abusive marriages. The trauma from these experiences has left deep scars, but I am determined to heal and rebuild my life. I inherited my grandmother's house, which should be a place of comfort and safety, but keeping up with the bills and necessary repairs on my own has been overwhelming. Because of my financial situation, I am unable to get loans or a mortgage, and the house next door is currently being renovated. I worry that once their work is finished, my home will look abandoned in comparison, adding to the stress I already feel.

<div>Renovating my home would do so much more than just fix up the property—it would help relieve the constant stress and allow me to feel better about myself. The abuse I endured made me feel like I had failed, and the words of my ex-husbands still echo in my mind, telling me that the house would fall apart if I chose to leave. But I had to choose myself and my healing. With these renovations, I could finally host family dinners and create new, positive memories in a safe space, which would be a huge step forward on my journey to recovery.
